Dan Nuckols' incisive wit sometimes can create quite a bit of stir with evolutionists and atheists. Critics will often criticize his humor, artwork, and intelligence, yet interestingly, they won't debate the points he brings up in his cartoons.
Dan doesn't mind the flak, for it tells him that his message is getting across. He doesn't want to tickle people's ears with his cartoons, but to show people the Truth. Some say that Dan portrays evolutionists as dumb or stupid. He is not saying that they are dumb in an academic sense, but they are foolish in denying the obvious fact that God exists. "The fool says in his heart, "There is no God" (Psalm 53:1).
When Dan was fourteen, the president of the Twin Cities Creation Science Association (www.tccsa.tc) asked if he would be interested in drawing cartoons for their monthly newsletter. He launched a creation science cartoon strip called "Primordial Soup" in 1998. He followed up with another creation science series in 2002 called "Monkey's Cuz" that was featured in his Dad's creation science textbooks ( www.ecreationscience.com). His Dad has taught creation science to several thousand students over the past 12 years. One of Dan's creation science cartoons was published in "The Washington Post" in March of 2005.
Dan loves drawing people's caricatures. He says that, "caricatures are a quick way to make friends… (and enemies :)." He has done "caricature evangelism" the past few years at local county fairs. He finds that drawing at fairs gives him good opportunities to share the Gospel message. He also has been on mission trips to Mexico and Guatemala where he would draw caricatures of the kids down there. Gospel Bible verses were printed on each of the caricature sheets in Spanish for the kids to take home and read.
Dan, one of 7 children, grew up in a wonderful Christian family. His parents were committed to "training him up in the way he should go" from a very early age. He was homeschooled from birth. He attended many Worldview Weekends growing up, which definitely played a role in developing his Biblical Worldview. In 2004 he graduated from high school, and started a teaching series on cartooning to 30 homeschool students for a year. Dan is currently a junior in college and is working towards a BA in Biblical Studies with a minor in Graphic Design.
Dan gave his life to Christ at the age of three. In 2002 Dan won a t-shirt contest for the talk show host, Todd Friel. Todd's radio show (then called "Talk the Walk") has been instrumental in Dan's growth in Christ. The show has taught him the importance of bearing fruit, reaching the lost, being at war with sin and having an eternal perspective. In the last two years Dan has had two close brushes with death, but each time the Lord graciously spared Dan's life. This really was a wake up call to Dan, as to the reality of the shortness of life, and the importance of living for Christ's Kingdom, and not one's own.
