Of course the martys didn't die so we could have a little fun and we must not forget! Moreover, we must go forth and continue to work hard in areas where persecution is great. However, if we are not doing things to attract our community of not-yet-believers to come into our doors and experience Christianity and authentic relationships with people who love Jesus, our martyrs will have died for a dieing cause. Christianity isn't about dieing for our faith - but it is also about living for it and sharing it with others as Paul did in ways that they can understand so they come to know Him.

It is true that Christians must be "attractive," but it is our Christian life that must be attractive, not our enterainment. We are to be known by our love to one another, not our dance style. It is true that Paul was able to communicate with a variety of people, but he didn't change his lifestyle to theirs to do it. Being knowledgeable is one thing, living a sinner's lifestyle is another. Someone once said regarding evangelism efforts that what you win them with is what you win them to. People need to be attracted to Jesus Christ, not the pop lifestyle.

Amen. Very good article. I have felt this for some time, but couldn't quite put into words why I felt it. I thought I must be some terrible evangelical not to support and volunteer for every program put on by my local church. You've given me clarity as to what is actually important. Thank you.

Let those of us who know better, earnestly pray for persecution of the church in North America.

Why pray for persecution in America? Why not pray for revival instead? Are we ever instructed to pray for persecution in the Scriptures?

Thank you for saying what needs to be said, as painful as it is.
