In Jeremiah 31 we read that God's people will dance once again. "Again I will build you and you will be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! Again you will take up your tambourines, And go forth to the dances of the merrymakers." Jeremiah indicates that dancing is a sign of right relationship with God. Be careful before you condemn something the Scriptures indicate belongs among the activities of God's people!

My heart is saddened as I read this article. Jesus in Mark 9:40 said "for whoever is not against us is for us." The martyrs died for their devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ. I minister in a small 210 year old church in New England, and I serve my Lord Jesus Christ. Never-the-less I celebrate the witness of any church that seeks to win people by being salt and light. Please, guard against division in the Body. Let us each pray for one another and allow our light to burn brightly. If God has called you to be a martyr, then with Latimer "light that candle" with boldness and courage. Followers of Christ have been warned about looking at each other and complaining about the mission assignments. (John 21:19-25)

Ingrid, I honestly think you have issues with folks in the "Bible belt". While I will agree with the premise of your article, I feel that you should really remove the plank of the Mega-Churches from your own eye before you begin to remove the speck out of the eyes of folks from the "Bible belt". In fact, most of the Mega-Churches that I know of are outside of the "Bible belt". A vast Majority of Churches in the South (lets call it what it is, okay?) are small, rural, Bible preaching and believing fellowships of brothers and sisters in Christ. Please, prior to jumping on your stump, get your facts straight.

To paraphrase a well known attorney, Jesus did not suffer, bleed and die so we could boo-ga-loo our way to glory! There is nothing wrong with the church in America that the coming persecution will not remedy. would to God we would fall on our faces and repent before that persecution would be necessary.

Thank you so much for this article! Lately my heart has been grieved with the realization that many individuals feel that they are good Christians and at the same time are completely knit to the system of this world. A 17 year old young lady in my extended family calls herself a Christian and has gone on a mission trip to serve God. This same person calls her favorite TV show MTV, her favorite store Spencers, reads Cosmopolitan magazine, watches movies and TV shows that are full of sexuality and sexual humor, and wears bikinis at the beach. None of this is challenged by her Christian father who feels he should preserve his relationship with his daughter above all things. My husband and I are hated by our 2 oldest children (17 and 16 year olds)because we do not let them engage in this type of behavior and call it sin. Actually we are seen as the bad guys in my entire side of the family due to our desire to live what we see as Biblical Christianity. This is in spite of the fact that we have always made loving and encouraging each family member a huge priority. I appreciate the true gospel being preached! Why don't people realize that being a Christian is supposed to cost something? What happened to Jesus' call to lay down our lives to follow Him? What about God's message for us to live separate from the world and depart from sin? I'm not saying that a dance floor is sin, but there is a lot going on in the lives of church people that is sin. Why do we feel we must gratify people's flesh rather than feed their spirits? Why don't we teach that true Christians are about the Father's business and use finances to help advance the gospel and care for those in need?

It's time that Pentecostal & Bible based churches get off the faddish kick of the comtempurary band entertainment and return to the reverant 'Word of God based' old hymns with a rousing pipe organ. This and much prayer time at the alter = revival.

Why can't we have both. Seek-friendly churches are just that...seeker-friendly. A church must be culturally relevant to grow and win people to the Lord. Most of the mainline denominational churches are dying because they will not change with the times. I am not suggesting we compromise on Biblical truth or the gospel, but what does it matter how the message reaches them as long as it does? Sometimes I think that Christians spend too much time majoring in the minors and bickering amonst ourselves instead of working on our own relationships with the Lord and reaching the lost.

Most of the mainline denominational churches are dying because they are not preaching the true gospel anymore either (Gay bishops and endorsing same-sex relationships come to mind). And the ones that are aren't drawing people in because people don't want to hear the truth. Why go to a church that tells you of your sin and need to repent before a Holy God when you can go to the megachurch down the street and hear a bublegum sermon? The culture does not dictate the relevance of the gospel. It is the same yesterday, today and forever.

I am so glad to see someone write what I have feared for so long. We must not forget what the martyrs did, nor must we forget their message. We must live for the Lord and lift up our lives to Him in all aspects. I do not claim to understand how these mega-churches operate and how it seems that the Gospel gets lost in the entertainment value. I pray for their souls, that they may come back to the Gospel and leave the dances, food courts and shock value out of the church. In Christ's Love, Sonja
