Thank you for sharing this with us. How does a school justify asking questions about God, when our public school systems are supposed to be separated from religion? If there is separation of church and state, how does the state justify guiding someone in the field of religion.

We have seen this coming for a long time now. Why Americans don't wake up and use their intellect to speak their minds on this subject, I'll never know. Five years ago my husband and I decided to homeschool our children. We had started to see the push for this and the push for standardized test scores then. Our children were either going to get an education with our teaching or suffer in the public school. The public schools have overstepped their bounds by going beyond classical education to teaching them someone else's standards, someone else's morals, telling them how, what and why they should think what they do, that they can and should think differently than their parents because that is "healthy", and to educate on bullying, only to be intolerant of those with opposing ideas from the NEA. Our family has truly grown closer because of the homeschooling, and I believe it is our duty that if we truly love our children, we should get involved in government and politics, that we should be on our knees everyday praying for our leaders, but also, it is our right to train up our children and teach them what, how, and why we as parents think and react the way we do. Deut. 11 is such a call to do so. Also, my husband was told in the '70's that he should only apply to tech schools because of his dyslexia and his inability to have any kind of job beyond that of a tech school and probably should be a mechanic. Sorry but my husband knows and cares as little about machinery as possible. He is now in his 15th year as a mortgage lender, and the Lord has been so good to provide him with an income where his wife can be a stay at home mom. Thank goodness he never listened to that high school counselor then. For the highly educated thinkers who believe that the human potential is so depraved that it will never rise above a certain criteria to be truly productive in society, is astounding, hypocritical and arrogant. They have not met my God. Praise God for his goodness and the freedom we have in this country to make choices. Pray that this freedom will remain and that the enemy's plans will be struck down by God-fearing, educated believers who call on the Omniscient One. Loving Homeschooling in Minnesota

I am in total agreement with your articles. The sad thing that comes through is that many "Christians" still put their children into the secular humanisitc government schools. The Church - pastors - needs to wake up and call its children out of that un-biblical system of education. The children of Christian parents need to geting a biblically based education through home schools or private Christian schools. Again - sadly - most pastors are afraid to preach this to their people because they have too many members making the "big" money (compared to teacher's salaries in private schools) from the government system.

Your article was outstanding and right on the money. The public education establishment has been "dumbing down" our children for years. Totalitarian regimes have long recognized that the best way to capture a generation is to control the schools. What are they up to? We need to wake up and take responsibility for the schooling of our children. Our goal should be to teach them to think biblically. Vocational choices can come later. Thanks for having the courage to tell it like it is.

Thanks for your article. I wish I had homeschooled my children. I was as involved as any parent in my children's education. I talked to teachers staying on top of what I thought was going on. When I requested that my son have freedom for our christian faith by not taking part in Holloween celebrations and the sex education program; I got a wake up call. My oldest son endured terrible persecution and I was told by school officials that secular humanism was the standard at school. My husband who came from a home of teachers in Wyoming didn't believe that it was bad for our sons at school. Of course, when he realized the truth our sons had graduated from the public school system. My oldest son backslid and went through a sad divorce . Then he did came back to Jesus. My youngest son has yet to come back to Jesus and is married a woman who claims to be a wicken. My husband and I pray for him all the time. We are hopeful since we have repented over our failures that God will bring him in. So, do I think the public school system is the anwer? Resoundingly NO! I pray to God that home schooling will be a viable option for parents until Jesus comes.

I have said for more years than I care to remember that America had become a country of too may over educated people. People that were educated way beyond their inteligence level and this article offers the proof to my statement. The eliete educators and high priced elected officials prepose that "they" know what is best for the rest of us, their ignorant servents. Unless drastic changes take place in the very near future our country as given to us by Washington, Jefferson, etc. will dissappear without a shot being fired.

First, noone can be educated beyond his mental ability or "intelligence level"; you can't learn something if you don't have the brainpower to learn it. Second, though some politicians may believe that they are more intelligent than the "common man", not all do, and we, the "common man", are responsible for those elected into office. Third, it sounds as if you are against higher education. Maybe if more people were higher-educated they would be able to run for office themselves, or at the very least combat the decisions the government makes that they disagree with.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for this article. I like to comment on the posting from the person who stated, "The choice of homeschooling must always be available, but so too must the understanding that it works successfully only through great effort by extraordinary parents with special children." That is a large expectation to live up to, and a common misconception. It's this kind of thinking that stears families away from private education or homeschooling. We are a homeschooled family and I assure you we are no more extraordinary than other parents, neither are our children more special than other children. It takes heart, faith and a solid commitment. All things are possible. We will not accept the public school system's assumption that parents are incapable or unqualified to educate their children beyond the age of 5.

Americans sorely need to care far more about what is taking place in their local schools and become informed. Thank you for providing information that helps to do this. I pray that those who become concerned will have godly wisdom to address this serious situation in the best and proper way.

I've heard for a long time that school-to-work was bad, but didn't know why. Thanks for doing this series. It's helped me to understand the issue much better.

A while ago I saw a movie about a time when all careers will be decided for everyone according to DNA. The main character wanted to be an astronaut. He was a janitor. (This movie came to mind upon reading about the girl who aspires to be a doctor and was told to get into sanitation.) Will the time come when the choice will be made for them? Consider this incident: A state's mental health system was being used by parents attempting to exert control over their young adult child . The "child" listened to motivational speakers and had high aspirations. One of the "experts" consulted stated that she believed that the person in question was "mentally ill" and because he believed that he could accomplish more than he was capable of, in the her opinion -- this from a psychologist who spent 10 minutes with the person.
