Verifying that this is truly Noah's ark would verify the bible all the way back to Genesis chapter 6. There is no way Noah could have prepared for the flood in time if God had not told him what to do.
What else needs to be done to verify that this is indeed the ark? Is a portion of the ark still buried? Can what remains be reconstructed and compared to the biblical dimensions? Can a model be built based on what has been found, and shown to be seaworthy? Is Iran willing to allow an archeological dig by qualified people?

Myth is the deepest truth.
(so perhaps there are not as many unbelievers as some have interpreted the poll to indicate).
Webster lists 4 definitions for Myth, the first two (in order of use) refer to a story that is fundamentally TRUE.
The Bible we use today springs from the Worlds best scholars who had such faith they prayed constantly that they would be inspired to translate accurately.
They did a great job on the KJV and the story doesn't seem to be intended to turn Ararat into Mecca; but to demonstrate Gods Sovreignity.
Hooray if this turns out to be a faith-builder (evidence of accuracy in translation)!

| Posted On: 07/21/06 01:34:48 AM | | Age 46, HI | Maybe that's why C.S. Lewis supposedly said the Bible is a book that begins in myth and fable and ends in fact. Of course, while myth speaks to the deepest human truths, it does so symbolically, not literally. Since God honors many genre of writing in the Bible -- history, poetry, proverbs (wise sayings), apocalypse, parables -- why wouldn't he give his earliest revelations in myth, since that is the kind of story early people were most familiar with. The reason we think "myth" means false rather than deeply true is because people think that something must be false if it is not literally true. But that is silly when you're talking about a genre like myth, which, by intention, is not literally true. Look at Genesis Two for a good example of myth that is deeply true, but not literal. The trees have names that tell what they stand for -- the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good an evil. Satan is represented by a serpent. The man's name means earth, from which he was taken. The woman's means mother, for she represents the mother of all. The story uses universal symbols like a garden for paradise, the serpent for evil. These are archetypes recognized by most cultures. So, the symbolic intent is practically spelled out. And, yet, a few Christians find it abhorent that some should believe God chose to reveal the human condition to us through a symbolic story. Click here to reply to this post

This is the most amazing evidence I've seen to date of what could actually be the ark. What encourages me most is the fact that the man was using the Bible in verification of the ark location, not just the name of a mountain in Turkey today. The Word of God is always true and this petrified wood with the sea fossils surrounding it is the best physical evidence to date of Noah's ark.
We should not be surprised or amazed to find evidence supporting Scripture because it is all true. It sure is exciting to view these pics and video.
Jesus performed signs and wonders to help us weak souls take faith in Him. I'm sure glad about that. Finding the Ark will help some folks, too. We should all be encouraged by such things.

Only 10% of the people who took the poll so far believe that God told the truth when He inspired Moses to write the account of Noah's ark. If God lied about that, what else in the Bible did God lie about???? If He lied, then He is NOT God and NOTHING in the Bible can be trusted to be true. I choose to believe God who said that He is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). It's time to believe God who is perfect and not fallible man's ideas concerning this issue. The poll was unanimous; "Crucify Him." Pilot new before he even took the poll that Jesus was innocent, yet chose to go with the poll anyway. If course we know that it was God's purpose that Jesus be crucified for our sins. Interesting how he used a poll as part of his plan. Click here to reply to this post

I absolutely believe the bible is true, and therefore I believe that the flood did accrue.
Weather this is the ark, I dont know, but by the tool marks on the exterior would indicate
that it has a great deal of age, But for our doubters weather or not the food existed, we
have to remember we live in a democracy, where we can argue our way to victory, but
the word of GOD is based on a Kingdom, and anyone who knows anything about a
kingdom they know the Kings word is incontestable, in others words , the kings word is
law, you cant argue your point, or get your own way, When we leave this life we will not
live in a democracy but a kingdom, and only Gods word will be law no contesting it, so
with this in mind anyone who says they dont believe, is basically saying GOD is a lair.

While this is all very exciting (think about it-those trees grew pre-flood! Noah's hands actually made those cuts!) it has the potential to do more harm than good. I pray that no Christian views this as validation for God or their faith. If you think you need a material object to do that, you need to evaluate your thinking. I wonder about the reasons God may have had for taking away Moses' body and the Ark of the Covenant. Will this become an object of worship? What about artifacts showing up as icons? I don't want to be a wet blanket-this is a wonderful find and I'd like to know more about it. But please, do not rely on this find to save the world.

| Posted On: 10/30/06 03:32:39 PM | | Age 26, OH | I think Christians in general need to not think, "oh people are going to worship the ark", or "Oh your not really saved if you let the discovery of the ark validate your christianity", and worry about things like this.
First off, it's exciting to think that we've found yet another artifact to blow the evolutionist out of the water! If God didn't want it to be found, it wouldn't be. This could definitley lead more people to the Lord. Maybe those teddering on what they believe, will come back over the fence! Those who have went to secular colleges and their minds made to mush regarding creation and evolution, this will bring them back to reality. God is coming soon people!! If this discovery helps convince someone or REMIND someone, and they get saved, how AWESOME is this discovery? Another soul saved from the pits.
The ark of the convenant did disappear. And if God wanted that found, it would be as well. I think that we as Christians, need to stick together and support them. This could really rock some peoples worlds. And in an AWESOME way. Click here to reply to this post

| Posted On: 07/14/06 07:55:37 PM | | Age 49, FL | this is an awesome find and if proved to be true,I believe that this will only solidify the weak Christian's faith, and, make us all stronger as well. In addition, this also gives us more "ammo" when witnessing to the non-believer. However, the best part about all of this is that this throws "another" wrench in secular society and the evolutionists (who are already confused for the most part as we all know). The end is near, the harvest is now ripe (see what is now happening in Israel), this could be an excellent tool as we minister to an evil/sick society headed down the path of destruction. Praise the LORD!
I just wanted to respond to a couple of general ideas that have been posted on this site. I am a new christian of only 6 months so my opinions may be a little off but this is what I have grown to know so far. First, I don't think faith is something that is or should be based off of blind belief. Faith to me is based off of something you KNOW to be true whether it is evident at the current time or not. I truly believe that as true christians, in order to have found your faith, you have seen or felt concrete evidence of GOD in your life or you would just be using GOD as a form of acceptance or intelligence. Secondly, I don't think that finding the works of GOD manifest from the past is ever a waste of time because it is exciting to me as a believer. True that non believers will probably not be changed by it, because if they wanted the word of GOD, they would have accepted it to have him in their life, noah's ark can't save lives, only brokeness leading to our LORD for completion. We have to need him to find him, and I don't see anyone truly needing noah's ark to help their life. But as a believer, it makes me so happy that they are walking in belief and truly searching for what is left of the events that our Father set in motion. It doesn't have to be die hard save the world all the time, can't we just be excited to see what our beautiful Father left behind and revel in his works a little while? It is awe - inspiring to me. I know when I see discoveries like this, I get giddy like a little girl and call my sister and we share the glory of our Father together as believers. Truly this would be only for us, a coffee table story for outsiders, but to us, it would be a gift to stir the joy in our hearts. Isn't that what he wants? For us to boast in his miraculous works?

I thought your article was interesting, and perhaps you might be right concerning the location of The Ark. I am a deeply committed Christian and a discovery of this magnitude would be incredible. It's just unfortunate that a really good photographer didn't seem to be among the provisions made for your trip.
Living in Salt Lake, it is unlikely that we would have opportunity for a speaker to come and provide us with first hand, eye witness accounts. Too Bad!

In the last 25 years the amount of information that has come forth concerning Noah's Ark, much of which is well documented, tells me that all those interested in truth will learn much more about God, Genesis and creation in the coming years. My reasons for saying this are; the last Russian Czar's expedition to see the Ark, Russian and American pilots citings in northern Iran that they said looked like a big boat, Moslem's historical accounts of Noah's Ark and last Ed Davis's story contained in the book, "The Painful Mountain" written by Dr. Don Shockey in 1986. Last and most important the Bible tells us Noah built a very large boat/ark that measured 300 cubits long by 50 cubits wide by 30 cubits high. Do the math and we get approx. 1,518,750 cubic feet. Another way to view its size is to recognize we have approx. 5 floors each containing 33,750 sq. ft. This was no small vessel. These are conservative dimensions since I'm assuming a cubit =s 1.5'. There is reason to believe that Noah's cubit equalled 2 feet.
My final thought is God's promise concerning the last days wherein Scripture says things like, "...in the last days my rocks shall testify of me" as well as other statements. I suggest reading Dr. Shockey's book wherein he utilizes much of Ed Davis's diary, notes and photos concerning what he saw concerning the ark. I also hope many of us will be able to learn more from Dr. Carnuckle, Dr. Shockey and Brannon Howse on this important subject. Dr. Shockey is still alive and well.
