Tithing is Old Covenant

Giving is the universal Scriptural principle, not tithing. Israel was required at least two tithes along with gifts and offerings. But tithing is never addressed in the New Covenant and undermines grace if imposed on believers in the "church" (Believers during the times of the Gentiles).
Unfortunately many believers mistakenly divide the Word at the Old and New Testaments, and miss the fact that most of the gospels are the completion of the Old Covenant as the promised Messiah made His formal presentation to Israel on "Palm Sunday." But He was not received and lamented that Israel had missed their "day of visitation."
Malachi is uniquely theocratic for Israel. It does not provide principles for giving in the Church. We must rightly divide the Word and understand Scripture in context.
Neither are we today advancing the Kingdom. The Kingdom is future, literal and millennial, as excellently exposited from Scripture by John MacArthur. At this time Christ is building His Church.
If we require tithing we're going back to the Law. If we promise any particular expectation for tithing we are falsely teaching prosperity.
If we don't get Israel right we cannot get all of Scripture right.

It is God’s REQUIREMENT of the children of Israel (Gen.49:28) to tithe a tenth part (Nu.18:26, Neh.10:38, Matt.23:23, Lk.11:42, Lk.18:12).
The church of God (1 Cor.10:32, the living body of Christ Jesus - Col.1:24), whom Jesus has made “free” (Jn.8:36), are not under a REQUIREMENT, but are the “cheerful giver” as the giver has purposed in his own heart (2 Cor.9:7-8).

I could not expand on what the above poster said any better. It saddens and sickens me every time I read or hear of the "tithe" being the solution or formula for wealth and prosperity. I even had a friend once tell me that I was going through severe suffering and pain because I was not tithing! She didn't even know if I was or wasn't!! How ignorant and hurtful!!! I was very saddened by reading this article.

Sowing Seeds of Corruption

The myth of a New Testament tithe continues to permeate the Church. The Lord God makes it clear he delights not in the sacrifice of animals, money, nor material possessions yet in the sacrifice of the heart. While many Gentile Christians have exploited Levitical mandates and claimed promises reserved to physical Israel they clearly lack understanding.
It is clear that even orthodox Jewry do not tithe understanding that this was reserved for the time of the Temple. Now, it is the Jew responsible for the scriptures we now hold today, surely they would not be erroneous in such a detail. The Church today equates sowing a seed as a monetary equation, yet even the Lord himself was clear that the seed is the Word of God implanted in heart of them that would hear.
The Laodicean appearance of the modern church in America is startling, having a form of godliness, yet denying the power thereof, which is the power of salvation through faith in Christ within the hearts of men and women. The Church today has embraced the same lusts and desires as the world, there clearly is no longer any distinction.
This World and the wealth of this world is reserved unto fire and they that desire the things of this world are of the world. Preachers of men who exploit their congregations as merchandise to expand their own personal kingdoms will face judgement in the fires of Hell. Clearly, what the Church in America holds is a nonrepentant Worldview as this site is so named.
While I believe there is yet a remnant of true believers in America, when the Rapture occurs I believe most Churches will remain at full capacity. Apostacy is rampant and false shepherds continue to fleece the flock, yet those with a firm foundation in the Word of God are not deceived. Seek ye treasure in heaven where moth nor rust corrupt saith the Lord.
Dominion Theology, Replacement Theology, and Prosperity Gospels have rapidly increased among the Church in America, sin and corruption also has increased in all aspects political, economic, and religion. A new gospel is preached and a new Jesus is endorsed under the Church of the Scripturally Ignorant, yet judgement is coming for those sowing seeds of corruption.
