Christians in Bible Belt
Posted On: 06/16/09 07:52:32 PM Age 59, FL
You are 100% correct about Christians in the Bible Belt. We have had it so nice and easy to be a Christian. I moved to Florida 5+ years ago coming originally from Chicago via eastern Iowa. I have been listening to Worldview for years and when I gave free copies of your newsletter, no one was especially interested. Our pastor also had a class on "How to Defend our Faith" and not many showed up. Christians have become so worldly and not living for Jesus Christ. Only when persecution hits home will they be outraged. I pray that believers wake up and see what is happening around them. Worldview network is getting the message out and there is not desire to know. People have told me that they don't want to know because it is too scary. Thank you for your hard work and spreading the Truth of Jesus, our Saviour. Carol

32, Oklahoma: Christ was persecuted, why should we not be? It's in the hearts of unbelievers to hate us due to their father the devil hating us.

I attend a holiness church, the problem I see is they do not want to be involved as it may taint their Beliefs. They do not believe we should even do The Inter-net. This is the only way I stay informed as we don't watch TV and Don't listen to the news on the radio. But there are a lot of Churches that don't get involved as they are afraid of losing their 501C. Which I and other pastors believe is of the devil I do not believe any church should be using the 501C

two kinds of people in the world...
Posted On: 05/29/09 01:20:20 AM Age 49, IL
Only two kinds -- Those who belong to Jesus and those who persecute those who belong to Jesus. No exceptions and no middle ground...Christians need to learn this first and foremost. Our affiliation with HIM is going to draw them...their hearts will either follow our lead, or persecute us. One or the other. The persecution may only take the form of a smirk or eyeroll...or an uncomfortable cough. They may even pretend to be following. You'll recognize it--get used to it. NO MIDDLE GROUND. I was working on a cable tv show where the friend of a newbie senator was being interviewed. I directed the newbie to the side, then I asked him of his children or pets to get him comfortable. I said "I belong to Jesus" and pointed to my cross--I asked him the same--He coughed before answering. It was a lawyers' answer, that he'd accepted the concept of forgiveness in as much as some had said there are sins and inasmuch as Christians can obtain forgiveness...sneaky...anyone render a guess of whom I'm speaking? Two daughters and no pets...at the time...ugly mole in crease left side of nose...tall lanky dude with penetrating eyes but not pretty by a longshot. I pray he grows and changes every day, especially since he's got so much responsibility he needs to know he's got Jesus to rely on and not just as a legal concept to be uncomfortable with.

WEAK AND POOR
Posted On: 05/29/09 12:01:49 AM Age 65, OH
Brannon, you are right, the church needs to be strong. But there is only one way for the church to be strong and that is for us to profess our weakness. Paul said, 2 Corinthians 11:30 If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. and 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. and also 2 Corinthians 12:10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. It say Jesus was crucified in weakness; 2 Corinthians 13:4 For to be sure, he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God's power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God's power we will live with him to serve you. and Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Hebrews 5:2 He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness. In the Revelation there are only two churches that are commended and that is the church that professes to be POOR and the church that professes to be WEAK. Jesus goes on to tell these two churches that they are rich and strong, but notice that they profess to be poor and weak. - Lou Newton

Christianity

As an American and a Veteran, I know the Constitution, and it clearly states we are entitled to the pursuit of happiness. As a true Christian I know that I am not to judge others, only God can do that. So although I may not agree with someones life style, as long as it doesn't effect my well being I have no place to criticize. My problem is why do the non-believers feel they are the only ones entitled to the pursuit of happiness? If my Christian lifestyle is not interfering with there well being, why am I not entilted to the same pursuit of happiness? I wore the uniform for every American's freedom. People don't care what religion, color, or sexual orientation I am when I am fighting for freedom, but they have no problem criticizing now that I am a regular Joe. Is there something seriously wrong with this picture? If there is a new world religion it should be called "The Hypocrites".

  1. Libertarianism not Christian
    Posted On: 05/31/09 09:57:03 AMAge 48, TX
Sir, First and foremost, thank you for yor service. But, the ideas you express are based in Libertarianism, not Constitutional Conservatism. If society has no right to impose moral standards upon its citizens (by means of moral persuasion and social ostracism - NOT in forcing people to convert), then the citizens will descend to the lowest possible place on the moral scale. That is simply the way humans operate. And, that is the reason why the Founders believed that a Constitutional republic could be kept only by a moral and religious people. It isn't "judging" to say that homosexuality is wrong; or that unrepentent homosexuals will go to hell; or that allowing such a lifestyle to flourish is destructive of mainstream society. If you read your bible closely, you will recognize that it is a sin to do otherwise. Blessings, Greg Neal

America's "only" hope!!!?
Posted On: 05/28/09 09:52:47 AM Age 52, LA
Great article, Brannon, (love the website),one point of contention in this article though.......America's "hope" is NOT the church but Jesus Christ. The "church" as seen as the hope of the world is preached in every Emergent/Postmodern/Positive Confession/Purpose Driven/Seeker Sensitive pulpit in America, void of Christ and Scripture. I shudder when I hear such a statement because it replaces the Christ centered salvation message with good works and ecumenism (I'm a former Catholic and very sensitive to such things!!!). It fringes on the Replacement Theology teachings of the "church" replacing Israel. This may not have been what was intended but it is a troubling statement all the same. Because of Christ, Addie K. 1. Hope in Christ and Christ alone

Addie, I thank you for your comments and agree whole heartedly. The serpent comes in wisely and subtly, and sometimes even the elect miss the fine print that blurs the parameters of truth. Our hope is in Christ and Christ alone.
