Janet, I think that you are mixing up the APA's examples of sexual paraphilias (in DSM-IV-TR, under the heading of ¡°Sexual and Gender Identity Disorders¡±) and sexual orientation. The former is a list of medical disorders for which treatment is appropriate (and the activities associated with these disorders, as is the case with pedophilia, may be criminal).
The APA¡¯s official definition of ¡°sexual orientation¡± is very similar to the federal government's. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-IV-TR, 2000) states: "For sexually mature individuals, the following specifiers may be noted based on the individual¡¯s sexual orientation: Sexually Attracted to Males, Sexually Attracted to Females, Sexually Attracted to Both, and Sexually Attracted to Neither"
So the premise of your article is incorrect; pedophilia would not be protected by the proposed legislation. In fact, pedophilia is a crime, and there would be absolutely no change to the criminal status of pedophilia with this legislation.

This is so hard to believe! And yet...I'm not suprised. This is one of those things that we talked and heard about happening in the times just before Christ's return! I deffinately won't be going out to any public place without a "protector" right beside me! It is so heart renting that such sin could thrive in our beloved country, yet maybe this kind of thing is what it will take to bring it back to it's Creator! I pray it will NOT take more than what we already have to bring the back-slidden Christians and the lost to their knees before the Redeemer of mankind, although, even if they/some do, judgment must still fall on those who refuse. Prayer is the ultimate solution. Don't forget God in your fight for freedom. "The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to naught; He maketh the devices of the people of none effect." Psalm 33:10 He is our salvation! "I sought the Lord and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Psalm 34:4 -Emily Dawn

I have encountered a few websites which point to Section 10 of HR 1913.
- Section 10 - The Rule of Construction (the last item of the bill) says, "Nothing in this Act, or the amendments made by this Act, shall be construed to prohibit any expressive conduct protected from legal prohibition by, or any activities protected by the free speech or free exercise clauses of, the First Amendment to the Constitution."
However, the versions on http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.1913: do not have Section 10 in the body of this resolution.
Could somebody find a link to a version of HR 1913 with Section 10? In addition, I am curious if SB 909 has similar wording in its version.
I ask, because I don't want to over react or make outlandish allegations concerning this legislation.
