What about the boys?

You can tell adult children (oxymoron) what to do, but if you haven't instilled godly principles in them from early childhood, then telling them what to do becomes a hit or miss situation. They must be taught to respect parental authority. Reading Scripture, telling them about God and Jesus, and loving them from early on will bring respect. Of course the parents must live what they preach. If parents have missed that boat years ago, then it is wise to withhold funds that will used for unhealthy purposes, and it is alright for parents to know what their money is being used for. You are certainly correct in what you say to the people who say, "But they're adults. You can't tell adult children what to do." - people are adults not by a certain age but responsibility and authority go hand in hand. When they young people are completely responsible for their own finances then they have the authority to do as they chose. They get a voice when they pay the bill. If they are not adult enough to pay their own way they are not adult enough to make all of their won choices. Lou Newton
