Lew White writes:
“The parable of the 10 virgins explains that as they waited for the Bridegroom, they all fell asleep. This means their bodies died.”
This is an erroneous view of this parable. From blueletterbible.org...'slumbered'--to be negligent, careless. 'slept'--metaph., 1) to yield to sloth and sin 2) to be indifferent to one's salvation.
When read in this context, the rest of the parable makes sense. These ten virgins had grown apathetic towards Christ because of the long delay in His promised coming; they'd fallen into a state of indifference concerning this coming. They 'let down their guard'; and in doing so, where unprepared when He does come. The true virgins, the ones with the oil {the Holy Spirit} quickly prepared themselves upon His arrival. The other five virgins, who professed Christ all along, but in word only, where void of the oil {the Holy Spirit}, and were left behind.
White's 'theory' of them all being dead is nowhere near being correct, much like everything else he teaches.
