He's wrong!!!

Walk hand in hand??? The only people who I know walk hand in hand, but believe totally different things, are married people. That's the only relationship that I know of that the bible says to stay in, even if it's hard. But to walk hand in hand with the world, just because you want to be a witness? I don't think so. Warren has crossed the line, from Christian separation, to the other side of liberalism. That's the most dangerous cult today, in the church. What he preaches is weak and does no good to bring people to Christ, except if God's word is thrown in once in a while, and the word does it's work in the heart. Wake up people!! Don't take the easy road, be discerning, and don't fall for what makes you feel good. Fall for the truth!!!

Pastoral Epistles, huh?

So you say that reading the pastoral epistles will help Rick Warren determine a better purpose? Maybe you forgot about 1 Timothy 3:7 where Paul encourages Timothy to choose leaders that are well respected by outsiders, better termed as gentiles or non-believers. Maybe this verse isn't that important...

It simply means that a bishop should be recognized as someone walking upright in the faith, both within and without the church. Even a non-believer can't find much ill to say about a clean living hardworking man of integrity. That doesn't mean that theologically they won't be at odds. Grow up son, and be careful in rebuking an elder. Click here to reply to this post
Purpose Driven still Pointing People to God

worked overnight in an overflow homeless shelter Tuesday night and had a long conversation with a man who had just been given a copy of "The Purpose Driven Life" and he was sharing how much it was helping him already and that he thought this was something that was really going to help him.// Of course that doesn't have the impact of getting on a website like this Steve and railing to your choir about every Christian pastor who doesn't meet your standards like you pretty much of done all of the past year. - It's a new year Steve- how about a new page in 2009?

Am I missing something?

I must be missing something. The video at the beginning of this article seems to be an expression of the life of Jesus. To extend love and civility to those who oppose us, who may even be termed our enemies is a direct obedience to the instructions of both Jesus and Paul. To acknowledge that we disagree on some critical issues while able to join together to oppose evils like poverty, hunger, disease and evil despots in various corners of our world is not far from the heart of Christ. That obedience has caused Rick Warren no end of criticism from our modern day pharisees and places him in the company of our Saviour who also chose to rub shoulders with the wrong people while carrying out God's will and plan. While I do not always agree with all that Rick Warren says and does I do not question his relationship with Jesus nor his genuine fulfilling of the mission of God for his life.

You're right, let's hate 'em all

Take out Rick's name and it sounds like what people write about Billy Graham. Steve's right - my new year's resolution is to hate gays. Just like Jesus hated prostitutes and Jews who worked for Rome.

I love you, man! As I tell my parents, who voted for Obama and all of the other Democrats: "Thank you, Democrats, for removing prayer from the schools. Thank you, Democrats, for removing exercise from the schools. Thank you, Democrats, and specifically the Clinton Administration, for providing the chips to the Chinese that enabled their missiles to hit anywhere they like on the continental United States." And I could go on, but I gotta tell you: "Thank you, Christians, for letting this politically correct society remove any and all saltiness from the Church!" Are we Christians, or are we not??!! Is the Bible ambiguous? Hardly! Cannot wait to get off the sidelines and put my activity where my mouth is!

I thank the Lord for the confirmation this article gave to me regarding Rick Warren. What Steve said was exactly what I was thinking as well, but when I mention my thoughts to those in my family who think Warren can do no wrong, I am made to look like I don't know what I am talking about. Thank you Steve for telling it like it is. Sadly, so few have the discernment to believe it.

For someone who believes man cannot repent (Calvinism), I think you hit the Mark Dead on with this article. Well Done Steve. now that's using your celebrity to preach. Call Kirk Cameron up and hit the streets together! Just leave your T.U.L.I.P.s at home. :)
