Are you for real

Having not seen the movie yet, it will be hard for me to argue whether this reviewer's points should be taken seriously. However, one can make the fairly safe assumption that he comes to the table with a HUGE bias and a way of thinking that is not open-minded like Bill.
All religious believers are, of course, not in the same league as 'evil' terrorists and I doubt Bill would have said this. In fact the vast majority of religious believers are normal, decent human beings trying to do their best both for themselves and each other before all too quickly returning to the earth from which they were formed. However, all religious believers, as opposed to Bill, DO claim things that are not possible to know and as such can, in one sense, be put in the same boat. Whether Christian or Muslim, lies are lies and given that all religions are just morphed versions of yet earlier handed-down stories from our ancestors, all the way back to just after we first evolved language, it is safe to say that trouble lies ahead for all who attempt to propagate these childish myths as truths. The world is infinitely more beautiful than any bronze age story would have you believe and when you realise that we know so little of what there is to know and that the scientific journey of discovery has only just scratched the surface - well, one is left speechless. But one thing is for certain - deep truths about the universe will not be found in the first, tentative, ignorant attempts at explanations that comprise our founding religious texts.
This movie is likely to be quite a hoot and I look forward to seeing it when it comes out here in Oz.
By the way, a definition please of what it is to be 'un-American' - a slippery, quasi-religious term in itself if you ask me. Has this god fellow (or girl) granted America some privilege that he decided the rest of the world was not deserving of? Get over yourselves.

Should be interesting...

How is it humble for someone to believe in a god that would create everything in the universe solely for our existence here on Earth... a measly rocky planet in an average sized solar system in an average sized galaxy amidst the hundreds of billions of galaxies in the Universe? That is the antithesis of humble... to realize our place in the big picture as a minor species that appeared and destroyed itself all in the blink of an eye... that's being humble.

Christianity is a lie, get over it

I agree with Bill Maher completely. It's just ridiculous for grown men and women to still have imaginary friends. Just because you Christians are living a lie doesn't mean that Bill Maher is ignorant for pointing this out.

Sounds like Bill Maher is following the standard set by Ben Stein with EXPELLED: NO INTELLIGENCE ALLOWED.

If there is a God there can only be one

So Maher must have been right about all but one - at least.
So which religion is correct?
Pick one.

Maher should be ashamed

Bill Maher should be ashamed of himself. How DARE he compare our gentle and pacifistic ways to that of those damned Muslims? All Muslims want are to destroy the world and God and spread hate and fear. Christianity is about love and acceptance and repenting for your sins and maybe then the Good Lord will forgive you. Bill Maher, YOU will never be accepted by Jesus Christ and the Lord! I hope Satan has a welcome mat all set out for you because there's no way you'll EVER get into Heaven!

Great review!

Your review wasn't hypocritical, arrogant, or ignorant at all. You're doing a super job! That Bill Maher sure is wrong about you and your ilk. You know what gets my goat? Is when elitist, limousine-liberal, hate-mongering propaganda spewers go up on the big movie-screen spoutin' their lies and disinformation. To be honest, it makes me afraid. I'm afraid that they might be right and I might be wrong, and my whole life would have been for nothing. So what I do, instead of having faith and embracing uncertainty, is make other innocent, gullible people afraid. You see, this thing called the 21st century rolled around recently and people are just plumb smarter than they used to be. They just... ignore me! I don't want to be ignored!

This has been long-recognised. Just take this quote from Gandhi.
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

"is full of lies, half-truths, false assumptions, logical contradictions and fallacies, distortions, intolerance, prejudice, bigotry, arrogance, ignorance, and hypocrisy."
That's odd, when I read that first statement, I immediately thought it was a religious movie, paising in the USUAL way christianity, or maybe Roman Catholic church. That was a cheap trick, really misleading.
