Exposing Emergent

Dearest Dr. Geisler, this is sent with much appreciation of your very informative and concise article, I became aware of "emergent" with the popularity of "Purpose Driven...", as a born again "former" Catholic, and being very familiar with deception, from heresy to apostasy, red flags went flying when after years of researching the New Age, post-modernism, charismatic-false-signs and wonders, goddess worship and converging spirituality, i.e. contemplative prayer, desert fathers, labyrinths, icons, candles, incense, etc., I realized it was at the front door of my home church, through much prayer and lovingly confronting the pastor, I am joyful to say that he has moved on and within 2 months the Lord brought a wonderful bible-preaching pastor to our church family, amazingly no hurt feelings and NO church split!, after reading several of the books mentioned in your article, I do understand the complaints of the Emergents, but throwing out the truth of the Gospel does not correct anything, God's blessings.Because of Christ, Addie K. I finally have a grasp on the tenets of the emerging church movement. Thank you for bringing clarity to what has been nebulous and confusing to me. Also, thank you for listing the names and works of emergents.

Best dissection of the foul beast called emergent

This is the best dissection and refutation of this self-defeating religion. One of their best arguments is defeated by logically examining their basic beliefs (that the Bible is flawed and self-contradicting). It's awesome ammunition for discussions with emergents. I've always been amused with their core belief that all truth is relevant, yet that statement excludes itself in that belief, which then contradicts it's core tenet. Sweet God given logic.

EMERGENT CHURCH SAYS THAT IT KNOWS NOTHING

You have written a well thought out article. These men are very dishonest. They should be honest and put a warning on the cover of every book they write; this warning also should be given before a EVERY sermon they preach; there should also be a very large sign posted in front of every one of their churches with this warning. - WARNING: ACCORDING TO OUR OWN DOCTRINE WE DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING - Lou Newton

- Feelings; nothin more than feelings...
| Posted On: 10/01/08 06:28:16 AM | | Age 48, MO | But Lou, it's not about knowing, its about feeling. They know nothing but they feel everything and redeem themselves by their emotions. Their feelings are their Spirit that leads them into all decisions. Their decisions are subjective to the moment and their involvement. The more involved they are, the more they escape rationality. They bombard themselves with sound bite theology from the pulpit, the tube, and other feelers. Let's face it, the feelers are liberal and they are good at keeping one another pumped up. So, is abortion wrong, how does it make you feel? So it goes... John Click here to reply to this post

An Awesome Article!

Dr. Geisler, Thank you for describing the belief system of the emergent church in great detail. While I was already very aware that the basis of emergent teaching was false, unorthodox, unscriptural and dangerous, I didn't know as much about the movement as I did after reading your article. This piece will be a great help to believers in knowing exactly what we are up against and speaking intelligently to those errors in defense of the truth. I plan to save it for future review. Thanks again. Bob Snyder
