Who can speak?
Posted On: 09/08/08 07:35:13 PM Age 45, PA
Why is the Pastor the only one allowed to speak, are there not other parts of the Body who are connected to the Head? Is not most, some or at least a few fellows in the gathering filled with the Holy Spirit who can interupt when the Holy Reverened Pastor gets fleshy? If someone says something off, why is it rude to correct him, who is he, why is this man sooooooo special as if he sits on Peter's throne like the pope? As far as I'm concerned setting up a fellowship around a man is replacing Christ with that man....not a good idea!

  1. SHOULD NOT BE ONE PREACHER
    Posted On: 09/11/08 02:45:09 PMAge 64, OH
Paul agrees with you, and was it not really the Holy Spirit speaking in 1 Cor 14:26What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, EVERYONE has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. ALL THESE MUST BE DONE for the strengthening of the church. 27If anyone speaks in a tongue, two—or at the most three—should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret. 28If there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep quiet in the church and speak to himself and God. 29TWO OR THREE PROPHETS SHOULD SPEAK, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. 30And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. 33For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.- Of course men do NOT believe the Holy Scriptures but only say they do. But how can a man be a prophet if he does not even believe that prophets today exist. Lou Newton

Liberalism feels good
Posted On: 09/05/08 07:37:42 AM Age 48, MO
Bob: thank you so much for this bold, truthful article. You are exactly right in what you say, however, I would attest to the fact that 50% of the congregants do not want to hear truth. In fact, if truth were spoken, churches would be much smaller, and pastors salaries would be affected. 50% of the congregants are liberal, just like 50% of the population is liberal. They want to feel good about their selves, their missions, and their rightousness. Thus, their theology dictates saving the planet, not making waves, and blessings. The truth is that the true church is being seperated and culled from society. Our laws and our churches speak to self and the true church is being put out to pasture. I think the TRUE church will soon be underground, meeting in houses. John

You are absolutely correct in the state of the church and Pastors in most cases today. And from somone who spen three long years in a liberal seeker sensitive building, I know first hand how impossible it is to have a rational conversation with anyone that has already fallen for this type of supposed ministry. Defending the Word of God to supposed believers is so sad and hearbreaking in every way. The church is divided against itself, and the leadership goes on the distortion of " Touch not God's annointed." To defend their heresy and distortions that they teach from the puplit, and small groups. What used to be known as Sunday School or bible study. The bible is never studied, books by the men mentioned above are used almost all of the time. And others of their friends like John Ortberg, a horrible example of a teacher. I pray that Jesus Chist will open some eyes before it's too late for. For some it already is.

  1. ONE BODY
    Posted On: 09/08/08 02:06:30 PMAge 64, OH
It is as Solomon said, there is nothing new under the sun. The true body of the Lord Jesus is not divided. Just as the pharisees sought to justify themselves and gather men after themselves, so it continues to this day. The Lord Jesus promised us that any man who sought the Lord Jesus with all their heart and soul would find Him. Those who follow the Holy Spirit will be led into all truth. Those who follow something other than the Holy Spirit will be led astray. Lou

THE GREATEST TEACHER
Posted On: 09/04/08 10:46:13 PM Age 64, OH
You say, "Never before in our history have we possessed better “diagnostic tools” to help us study the Bible". The best and if fact the Only thing needed to understand the scriptures is available now and has always been available to anyone who would humble themselves and give their life to The Lord Jesus. There is nothing or no one who compares to the Holy Spirit to help us understand His book. He is the Author and who can understand His Book as He can. Who can know the heart of a man except the Holy Spirit. Many men have went to many schools and studied under many teachers to end up in error. But no one has ever turned to The Holy Spirit and been led astray. Lou

That was EXACTLY my thought. the BEST AND ONLY INFALLIBLE PERFECT teacher is the Holy Spirit. Rely on Him and He will guide you in His perfect will. Ask Him and He will teach you all things including the Father's Heart.

Excellent article and one that the Church needs to be aware of. The biggest problem today is Christians not reading and understanding their bible then being sure that what is being taught is in agreement with scripture. As our pastor said many times "Folks don't check your brain at the door".
