I must confess, I really have not read or given much thought to "The Shack"! But what a great article. Well written and chillingly truthful. I know we each have our role from the Lord, I for one am glad you are called to this great task. Keep up the good work.

- AA cofounder and "the shack"
| Posted On: 01/09/09 03:44:25 PM | | Age 55, OR | Thank you for the encouragement. Throughout the history of AA are some odd coincidences, such as the place where spiritualist and AA cofounder did much of his thinking--it was nicknamed called "the shack."
Kind of ironic. Beyond irony however is the reality that both AA and The Shack have new age underpinnings and serve to point people AWAY from the Biblical Jesus Christ. Click here to reply to this post

Where is the common sense and discernment?

First of all, I would like to say that I am a born again christian.I believe in an actual Hell with burning flames. I believe that the ONLY way to heaven is by grace thru faith in Jesus Christ and the acceptance of the gift of what He did on the cross for ALL of mankind.
I purchased 'The Shack' a few weeks ago. I have read it 3 times.
Have you actually read this book? Have you been to the website?
It has been plainly stated on the book and website that this book is FICTIONAL.
I thought it was one of the most creative things I have ever read.
Did you read the part where he falls asleep in the shack? He then spends time with the trinity.I totally "got" the whole thing of God revealing himself to Mack as a woman. It is written in Genesis 1 vs.26a-And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.....vs.27-So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; MALE AND FEMALE created he them.
We( male and female alike) were created in GODS image! On page 93 of Papa tells mack...'I am neither male nor female, even though both genders are derived of my nature. There is a part where it is made plain and clear that there is a hell! In the chapter entitled 'Here Come Da Judge'...Mack meets Wisdom in the flesh. The same Wisdom the Bible speaks of in Proverbs 3. Wisdom reveals that Mack has been judging the human race but he has also judged God. How many times have we as humans said we were not blaming God but really in truth we were. Mack is also told that he will have to choose 2 of his children to go to heaven and 3 of them to go to "spend an eternity in hell(later she explains that this is a place of torment, away from Gods presence and apart from His love). Sounds accurate to me.
Then she tries to get him to choose which ones will go to hell and which ones will go to heaven.....the he says can I go to hell for them instead. And she says, that is what Jesus did, He loved us so much that He judged the human race worthy of love....even though it cost Him everything by taking the judgement for us. Jesus did die for all the human race. She even tells him to return from his independence and to quit judging God and 'know' Him for who He really is!
What I take away from a great deal of this book is that God wants us to serve Him out of love, not out of fear of judgement.
Wouldn't you rather your children obey you because they simply love you for being their parent then for fear of what will happen to them if they don't. I do believe that is what God intended from the beginning...and satan brought on a need for judgement when he wanted to make himself equal to God....and then Adam & Eve brought judgement upon the human race because of their own independence from what God had commanded of them.
At the end of Macks weekend with God the trinity....he wakes up in the shack.
Haven't you ever had a dream that seemed so real that you started to think it may be true?
Well, the controversy being created over this book is simply making mountains out of mole hills.
IT IS FICTIONAL. Just like anything fictional....it isn't supposed to be considered reality....just the figment of ones imagination brought to life for the rest of us to enjoy.
Seriously, quit judging William Young and just enjoy this awesome book for what it is....a story!

- Theology disguised as fiction
| Posted On: 03/18/09 01:12:07 PM | | Age 55, OR | This book is being used to teach people about a "god" who contradicts the God of the Bible. It has been used to introduce goddess worship, a false christ, and a denial of the purpose of the cross in the church.
This popularity will continue to increase.
