Who gets to hear the Gospel?
Posted On: 07/17/08 01:31:03 PM Age 31, WI
I have followed WOTM and practice sharing my faith with strangers on a regular basis. One big mistake I make when witnessing is deciding who I should talk to. It is hard to walk up to a stranger in the first place, so people that don't look right or at those that look stronger than me I steer away from. In that moment I am saying I know better than God as to who should hear the Gospel. I am making Godly decisions that are not mine to make. Case in point, the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Romans 1:16. We should not make Godly desicions as to who hears the Gospel and who doesn't. This is not some perverted, water downed form of the Gospel Ray preaches. If Ray is the only one at this conference preaching the Gospel, we should be excited and prayerfully asking God to rescue people. Those that subscribe to word faith conference Will not point to Ray Comfort on the Day of Judgment and say we never heard the Gospel. God is using Ray as a life line that is thrown into the shark infested waters to pull people out of what is sure to be their death both in this life and the next. How silly! Even if you were to take his home, car, and health Ray will still preach the Gospel to EVERYONE!! I'm not sure if you know, Ray is not concerned with his reputation as long as he has be true to the word of God. And neither should any of us. When out on the streets open air preaching, the loudest hecklers claim to be Christians! They would rather silence us than let someone hear the Gospel and be saved. Ray is not on the street and he still has self proclaiming Christians that want him to be silenced than let someone hear the Gospel.

Who will preach the truth to them if not Ray???
Posted On: 07/15/08 08:41:02 PM Age 39, FM
How will they hear if they have not been told? Preaching to the WOF crowd is the same thing as preaching to unsaved people on the street corner. IMO, people should be supporting Ray Comfort for giving the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to ALL OF THE LOST.

Sold Out to TBN?
Posted On: 07/13/08 05:31:56 AM Age 55, NY
Has Brother Ray sold out to TBN? It seems clear if he keeps his mouth shut about the false teachers and their heresies on TBN they will be pleased to have his program as it gives them a vener of being Christian but let him expose them in the least and he is out to there. But hey! Isn't he only following Ravi Zacharias' example in how he spoke to the Mormons telling them how wonderful Jesus is but never getting around to telling them they have an entirely different Jesus.

Paul did not go into the temples of false gods to preach
Posted On: 07/11/08 09:59:40 AM Age 52, NH
In reading the Word this morning, I came acrross this: Acts 17:16-17 While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols. So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there. Note that he did NOT go into the temples of the false gods to preach! I am still praying that the Lord will guide Ray to do His Will.

  1. True, but...

The cult of Athena was run by the city rulers and they met at the Areopagus. These were the rulers of Athens, the philosophers were those who made the cult go and those in the temple of Athena were the ones to carry out the rituals. Paul was "taken hold of and brought" there by the cultic/religious leaders, Paul wasn't heading there as far as the text speaks. In Greece (as in most of the world over time), religion and civic realms were one, not separated. The equivalent situation would be if Ray was preaching Christ in a place where WordFaith was the civic and cultural law and the religious/civic leaders took him forcibly to the town center where all religious and cultural decisions were determined. He may not be in the temple but he is certainly preaching where the most adherents gathered and where the leaders sat and made decisions from. Probably the closest we can come to that atmosphere is the auditoriums where the people and their leaders gather. Grace and Peace, Jim

  2. WHERE CAN WE PREACH
    Posted On: 07/12/08 11:58:32 AMAge 64, OH
This is a very good point. While Jesus went into the temple that was governed by a group of false leaders it was built to honor the True God. But Jesus would not have went into the temple for Baal to preach. It was governed by true leaders of a false god. I would not go into the Mormon Temple to preach because it is built in honor of a false god Joseph Smith. I would not go into a Muslim Mosque, Hindu or Buddhist temple to preach. But if a place is built to worship the One true God the Lord Jesus and His name is proclaimed there, but is governed by false leaders, then I think I would go preach there, if the Lord led me. Notice that Paul went into the synagogue that was to worship the true God but had not heard of death of the Lord Jesus. We truly need to be led by the Spirit. Lou

The Word Is The Judge

It is dishonest to speak against such men as Rod Parsley that you have not a clue what they preach. Thank God for someone like Rod Parsley! I pray God would give us more men that will speak up boldly against a dark culture. If you are going to call someone a wolf be sure to do your homework first. When you hear the junk that the emergent leaders preach you realize that they are not sticking to the Word of God. It is no different with Rick Warren, but to say the same about Rod Parsley is straight up ignorance. The Word of God should be the standard, not somone's opinion of a preacher.

  1. NOTHING BUT CHRIST CRUCIFIED
    Posted On: 07/12/08 12:07:58 PMAge 64, OH
Dear friend, I would not put Rod Parsley and Rick Warren in the same group. I would certainly prefer the error of Parsley over the error of Warren. But I do not think that Rod Parsley preaches nothing but Jesus Christ crucified as Paul said. I have listened to Parsley on TV and I do not think that what he preaches lines up with the scriptures. There is too much Rod Parsley and too little Jesus sometimes. Jesus is the only One who is worthy and we should all confess that we are all not worthy. Lou

Ray Comfort Should Not Share the Platform With Word Faith Wolves
Posted On: 07/10/08 01:21:44 AM Age 41, NY
To me there shouldn't even be a question if Brother Comfort should speak at this conference with these lost souls; but as a medical missionary, that's just me. The title to this article is one of self righteousness and portrays a "holier than thou" attitude I regret to say. I have noticed from these stone throwers, one whom calls himself a pastor, their insistence in telling Brother Comfort what to say before these sinners. I myself am confident that Ray, being the biblical man that Ray is, will follow his Lord's well written instructions set forth in Luke's Gospel Chapter 12: For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye out to say 12. Thy Word is Truth. John 17:17. And Hebrews 4:12 tells us that For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. It is the Holy Spirit's job to convict of sin, John Chapter 16:7-8 ;Ray is only a willing obedient mouthpiece and servant. Anything less than the Word of God will not produce the desired Will of God of conviction of sin and repentence which leads to salvation. As it is written: For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Romans 9:15 The real sin I see involved in this entire matter is from AM and Slice who are causing discord and meddling in another Brother's ministry. Brother Comfort answers to the Lord, and doesn't need anyone else's permission to do the Lord's work. Let's all be praying for him that the Lord's Will be done.

PREACH JESUS CHRIST CRUCIFIED
Posted On: 07/10/08 12:36:35 AM Age 64, OH
The pharisees were certainly preaching death and not life, but Jesus went into their homes and churches. You can not go into the WOF churches and force people to leave can you. If these churches are full of false converts, as I would think them to be, then go into these churches and preach Jesus Christ crucified. If these false converts are following these wolves, what better can any man do than cause them to follow Jesus Christ instead. Ray is not leaving these people to the wolves when he leaves, but he is leaving them with Jesus Christ. Do you know any better hands to leave them in. If these wolves preach lies, then go in and preach the Truth. All will choose as they see fit. If someone gives their life to Jesus Christ, then no one can snatch them from His hands. Jesus will lead them out of those false preaches churches, when He opens their eyes. Lou

Ray should go...dont be so quick to throw stones!
Posted On: 07/09/08 09:50:30 PM Age 33, PA
I really value this website and all the faithful men and women of God who stand against apostasy and heretical teachings. I also value Ken Silva's ministry and have contibuted to it. So my comments are with the utmost respect for Ken and Ingrid, both of who are stating that Ray should not speak at the WOF conference. Yet sometimes, the stones are cast in haste. We should not as Christians so quickly assume that anyone who even speaks at/to a group automatically agrees with them or should in no way PREACH to the same people at a conference. Ray is obviously a man of God who has given his life to point out the way to true salvation. His accepting to PREACH THE GOSPEL, not to just be a speaker amongst a list of various speakers on WOF topics, makes this different than someone supporting a movement or message. He is there to PREACH, just as Christ did. I can also say, as one brought up in the Charismatic church (an am no longer associated with the movement in any way because of some false teachings-such as those that concern the WOF movement), that there are people who follow these movements who ARE saved, as I was. I was not taught in that movement that I am saved and worship God BECAUSE of what he could do for me. I did not worship a false Jesus. I was pointed to the Bible and taught to search the scriptures. I was taught the truth about who Jesus was and accepted and loved Jesus for what he already did for me on the cross. There are many in the charismatic churches that are saved. However, they have a false expectation of what God wants to also do in their lives, as a result of their faith, obedience, words, etc. Too much to go into here. But the point is that although the teachings are Biblically incorrect, not all WOF / Charismatic preachers are outright heretics. I was certainly never taught that I was a little god. Some just have a poor understanding of how God operates. For those that are heretics and preaching this health/wealth message for financial gain, God will judge them...BUT God is GREAT and can use even these men and their meetings to bring people to Him. Ray is one way God can move to touch people who may or may not have been taught the True Gospel by these WOF leaders, and have also believed false things about what God wants for their lives after salvation. Ray, I would encourage you to go to the conference and preach the Gospel. Consider telling the attendees how they must understand, accept, and follow God because of their sin and His atonement for that sin...and WITHOUT any EXPECTATION or false understanding that God will give them anything else in return or that their walk will be easy. Consider pointing out that the disciples had to give up everything in this lifetime, including riches and their own lives...and that their reward was on heaven not on Earth. Encourage them to know the Bible and to test ALL teachings and spirits against it! I think that will drive home the point! Ultimately, Ray stands before God and a decision to preach the TRUE Gospel is a decision we should applaude. If the Lord calls Him to say more and 'stand against' the heresy of the WOF false teachings, I trust Ray will do that. If he does not feel that his calling in this instance, I hope, trust and pray that we will leave the judgement to the Lord and not be so quick to cast our stones at this Man of God.

THE LAW IS TO SHOW A NEED FOR A SAVIOR
Posted On: 07/09/08 02:48:04 PM Age 64, OH
We do not preach the law to get people to do the right thing. No one can follow the law, so that would not be smart. We preach the law so men will see that they are sinners in need of a Savior. If a man sees his need for Jesus Christ and repents and gives his life to Jesus, then Jesus will give that man the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will lead that man into all truth if he has truly given his life to Christ. We are all called to preach Jesus Christ crucified to the whole world, that would include ALL the world. If would go anywhere I was invited, and some places I am not invited, to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. As long as the pope himself would give me complete freedom to preach the Truth of Christ, I would go to the Vatican itself. Lou

Misunderstanding of Greek
Posted On: 07/09/08 12:10:54 PM Age 40, NH
Mr. Silva, The term "yoke" when used to warn us to not be yoked with unbelievers does not mean appearing with someone on stage. The Greek in those instances in Scripture means to be teamed up for the same mission and to work together to get a job done. Mr. Comfort certainly isn't yoked with Parsley or the others and claiming that he is "yoked" with them is a mistake out of bad exegesis or worse. I assume this was from incomplete study of His word. Both Paul at Mars Hill and Ray with these "teachers" speak the truth without polemical aspects. What they preach demonstrates the false teachings of those around them by virtue of the truth bing proclaimed. Grace and Peace, Jim
