I think it's a great shame that someone like Ray Comfort should have to issue a statement defending his actions.
Shame on all those who've judged him.

- It Is A Shame But Ray Isn't the 1st To Be Accused Falsely by Those On This Site
| Posted On: 07/07/08 06:20:07 PM | | Age 40, NH | As Paul spoke with at mars Hill and didn't attack what the Stoics and other philosophers taught, so Ray did and does at the prosperity peddler's own house. This is not a problem for God nor should it be for a mature believer.
It is a shame but Ray isn't the 1st to be accused falsely by those on this site or those welcomed by this site and related brethren. Maybe many on this site (writers and commentators)will now see the lack of wisdom, truth and grace that has been heaped on brothers and non-brothers alike by the "knee-jerk" reactionary attitudes often (but not always) displayed here. That is what I pray for so those here who practice this "gotcha" game will repent and follow Christ and speak with grace as He did.
Grace and Peace,

Mr.Comfort, on matters like these I get confused. Everyone seems to have good reason and with scripture to back it up. I'm not sure. But it seems to me that we believers are under grace, living in the age of grace. We are to preach the gospel of grace and extend grace to one another. I think the Bible teaches that the body of Christ has many different members, each with different functions...maybe some are to be guardians of truth, watchdogs, warning the flock. Maybe others were made to be messengers far and wide, to friend and foe. I don't know...I leave room for being wrong. One thing I know for sure is that my Lord Jesus took the punishment that I deserved and offered me forgiveness and eternal life. About your preaching in those churches, maybe Romans 14 through Romans 15:7 might encourage you in the grace of our Lord.

Be Like Paul

Be like Paul in opposing false teachings:
Galations 2
11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For prior to the coming of certain men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and hold himself aloof, fearing the party of the circumcision. 13 The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all, “If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?
15 “We are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the Gentiles; 16 nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified. 17 “But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found sinners, is Christ then a minister of sin? May it never be! 18 “For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I prove myself to be a transgressor. 19 “For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God. 20 “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. 21 “I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly

- Ray is right!
| Posted On: 07/06/08 09:16:08 AM | | Age 39, FM | Ray IS opposing false teaching by having the courage, through the Holy Spirit, to go into a place which teaches false doctrine and boldly proclaiming the truth. The True Gospel of Jesus is the power to save men's souls. How will they know if they haven't heard?
If Ray was living as a missionary in a foreign country and was invited to speak at a local religious group, we would praise God for this opportunity. He could speak the Gospel to those who were worshipping false gods and dying in their sins. He is doing the same thing here in our country.
Thank God for Ray Comfort's ministry. God has used him to change me and my family into evangelists. Anyone who has heard him preach can easily understand that he has not gone astray but has a God-given passion and gifting to reach the lost.
How anyone can hear Ray preach, and then claim he is promoting false teaching is unbelievable and illogical.
I thank God for your ministry, Ray! Click here to reply to this post
What did Jesus do?

Ray, Did Jesus ever turn down an ivitation to speak to anyone who invited him? Did he say no to the tax collectors who invited him in? Jesus knew that there were all kinds of false religious leaders in the crowds whenever he preached the Gospel to the lost. But at the same time he warned the lost of these false religious teachers and exposed the religious leaders in front of the lost for not teaching the true Gospel. Matthew 23 is a good example. Here he calls the Scribes and Pharisees hypcrites in front of the mulitudes and exposes the falseness of their teaching. Thus the lost were shown who it was who was teaching them falsely. Which clarified to the lost multitudes that Jesus wasnt a part of the false teachers, scribes and pharisees. Thus causing the lost to come to their own convictions about what the true Gospel is from the false Gospels. Ray, If this is where the spirit is leading you then by all means keep accepting these invitations so that you can bring the true Gospel to the lost. Just make sure that the people know your not there to agree or support the same message that the health and wealth teachers are proclaiming, but what the difference is between the Gospel that Jesus represents and the false Gospel that is being preached to them. Dont lose sight! But your there as God's vessel to show them the true Gospel according to what the Bible truly teaches. Peace and God Bless! My prayers are with you.

Hang in there Ray. Don't think that just because you aren't going to mouth the exact words Ingrid wants you to use, that you're not being used by God in a powerful way. Thank you for going to places where she fears to tread. God bless you Ray.

- no need to verbally attack Ingrid
| Posted On: 07/07/08 04:52:36 AM | | Age 49, IL | I am in agreement with Ray, but by the same token, there is no need to attack a sister in Christ because of her stance. I clearly understand Ingrid's stance, however, I believe with much prayer, Ray will, by God's power, preach the gospel as the Lord wills by the power of His Holy Spirit. I have the utmost respect for Ingrid and would never say anything disrespectful against her; if Ray preaches the truth {and opposes the false teaching of the word faith deception}, Ingrid will be the first to admit, 'I was wrong'. Truely throwing the Seed that Neeeeeeeds to be thrown there.
Speaking in Parable those that can see, those that can hear.Confounding the Pharisees.
One thing that would burn them alive Reversing the doctrine of the tithe and sowing. Switching offerings and tithes.
Stop tithing to the church, start tithing to the Poor,Elderly,Needy,Widows,Fatherless,Orphans,Strangers,Helpless, and Helpless members of their families.
Start giving little offerings to the church for physical needs of ministers.
Now Run Really, Really, FAST for the Wolves will be on your backside like white on rice.
Don't look back, keep your shield up.
Maybe the Seed will fall where some will find it and it will be planted by our Father deep into their hearts.
I've seen in Christian avenues of television ministers I used to see an annointing all over them in their eyes, words, and tongue then I saw a gradual change and their eyes are different they lost a fire a grain of salt apassion in them and started sounding the same. Their eyes look different now then before.
God willing Ray I hope and pray you are old enough in the faith to not fall or be corrupted in the way of Balaam like many have. I feared you had already after reading on your website you only come to a certain # of people to minister the big churches. Do what needs to be done if you're willing but run with the wind speaking no pleasantries only what Lord wills like servant of Elisha carrying staff unto the asleep dead child.

I love Ray's Ministry, but...
| Posted On: 07/05/08 11:03:13 AM |
Age 38, TX |
...this is a little different situation.
Ray's situation here is similar to Ravi Zacharias' situation with the Mormons... I also love Ravi Zacharias' ministry, but if Ravi Zacharias would be re-invited to the Mormon Temple a second time, he did not preach the offensive Gospel (that is against all things Mormon) the first time!
I'd say the same about Ray...
If this is his 2nd or 3rd invitation to speak at this conference, evidently those who hear his message are not changed in any way... and it is due to a LACK of something from Ray's mouth.
A message for Ray:
I very much value your ministry... I have pesonally known several people who have been "enlightened" by its message and have seen that they were not a true convert, even as they sat in their churches. Your ministry changes lives and brings many to the cross!
But your message (as it is), is intended to be applied to churches that have a generally orthodox view of Jesus Christ and the Word of God, yet who have applied the errors of the last hundred years to their understanding of salvation and the method of evangelism.
The Prosperity/Word of Faith movement is not a generally orthodox movement, just like the Mormons... their god is not my God. Their jesus is not my Jesus.
So, Ray, if your "true and false conversions" message wouldn't work for mormons (and it wouldn't) what makes you think it would work for these guys??
In the case of Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses AND Word of Faith/Prosperity teachers, you must preach a "message of offense" that attacks their false gods and false jesuses.
All I am saying is, you have evidently failed to preach the right message for that audience for several years... or they would not have invited you back.
Please consider modifying the message you've brought to them the past few years to be directly offensive to their belief in the false prosperity god... preach a modified message that allows those hearers to either be converted or hate you...
Isn't that how the True Gospel always works?

Keep Standing on the Word, Ray!

Ray,
The genuine concern being expressed about the WoF'ers attempting to make merchandise of your good name is absolutely spot-on accurate. In the Lord you know that you must publicly distance yourself from their aberrant/heretical anti-christ teachings WHILE you faithfully proclaim the pure and eternal gospel of grace.
As you know Ray, the WoF'ers with whom you will share the stage are ravenous wolves who are mercilessly rending Christ's little flock and they have turned the house of God into a den of thieves.
Yet it's into this very real spiritual deception and darkness the pure and eternal gospel of Jesus Christ MUST BE PROCLAIMED.
The One True and Living God of the Holy Bible and His REAL CHRIST - not the false christ of health, wealth, and prosperity that's idolized by the WoF'ers - is more than able to snatch His own from the clutches of the enemy, and it has pleased Him to do this by the foolishness of the preaching of the cross.
Ray, put on the full armor of God and boldly preach Christ crucified, dead, buried, and resurrected on the third day and make it clear WHICH CHRIST you are preaching and the rest lies, as always, in the everlasting hands of the absolutely sovereign God of all creation.
May those who are called by the name of the Lord of Glory NEVER be found standing in opposition to the faithful proclamation of His Eternal Gospel of grace!
In Him,
CD

Ray Is right

I remember when two Mormon missionaries came to Easter services at the Baptist Church I was attending at the time. The chairman of the deacons said to me, well, at least they'll be hearing the true gospel here this morning.
I believe Ray is like Daniel walking into the lion's den. We should continue to pray for his ministry. Remember, Paul went into pagan Athens where he declared Jesus amid a pantheon of idols, and Rome and he preached the gospel in synagogues wherever he went and was stoned for his trouble.
The question I would ask myself as a minister, would I accept an invitation to preach at a prosperity-preaching church. The answer is yes, absolutely.
