Good Tips for Finding a Few More Good Books

I never heard of David Berlinkski until I saw him in the EXPELLED film.
I have now already read David Berlinski's book, THE DEVIL'S DELUSION, and I feel quite educated from reading it. I learned a lot about the historical circumstances and current situations concerning how atheism falsely claims to be scientific despite the evidence leading towards intelligent design, leading "scientists" instead to a falsely "scientific" belief in nonsense with no evidence, just foolish talk, such as string theories and alternate universes.
Thanks for this article, which tips me off to some more, similar books, in the vein of Berlinski's.

A wonderfully written piece! I am a bible-believing follower of Jesus Christ, and started to realize some 3 years ago that one of the reasons so few young people seem to get past their teens with their faith intact, is because the 'world' teaches them atheistic evolution, while the church generally does nothing to combat this, i.e teaching faithfully from the word of God, that God wrote what He meant, from Genesis to Revelation. Far from committing intellectual suicide by believing in biblical creation, the facts all point to a Creator and sustainer of the universe. This same bible tells us of an apostasy in the last days, where even the elct will be decieved. The church has given in to the bully-boys, instead of standing on the word of God, even when we don't understand it, or it may seem at odds with the science of its day, (which is constantly being revised, changed or de-bunked) Gods word is the same now and forever, trust Him and His Son Jesus, as there is no life outside of His grace and plan of redemption for you. Darwin, Dawkins. Hawkings, Hitchins, etc. can offer you irrelevance,nothingness,- Who in their right mind would choose this above the author of life, eternal security, and meaning? The bible says 'Repent and believe'-do it while you have breath, He is real, and true, and the fact that you are reading this, He is calling you now. Repent and believe. His richest blessings on you, Maria Moring, Essex, England.

"The right, with its current gospel of bombs & bullets..Has discredited its self. Especially since every study conducted confirms the same thing. The divorce, abortion, teen pregnancy rate, and just about every depravity of this world is no different within our Churches as it is among the unbelieving heathens. nd Now you want to bomb the world into submiting to theis hypocrasy." Wow! what a bitter little Bush hater we are today. What liberal, leftist, social gospel pushing church are you talking about that you use to smear "The right". and one more thing. Why is defending ourselves against radical muslims "a gospel of bombs and bullets...bombing the world into submitting to hypocrasy." It sounds so stupid and has nothing to do with the article. stop hatin'

Excellent article. My only problem with it it the last sentence where you recommend reading Dinesh D'Souza's book. I started to read it and about midway, when he admitted that evolution was a valid thought process, immediately quit. Evolution in all aspects, goes against the Bible. God made all things to reproduce their OWN species (read Genesis again). Not change to a new species. People tend to confuse evolution with adaptation within a species. Also, as far as six actual days of creation, how would plants have survived more than 24 hours without the sun. Plant life was created on the third day, the sun and moon on the fourth. It would be impossible for plants to survive for thousands of years with no sun. Please be careful when recommending authors who profess to be Christian, but whose beliefs defy the Bible. God Bless.

When the Argument is Weak, Shout and Pound the Pulpit

This seems to be the intellectual basis for the current spate of in-your-face atheism. They appear to be following the well-known advice that today, facts don't matter, only volume and repetition, and whoever dominates the channels of distribution wins. They do not even care about winning the debate on an intellectual level, but only about making sure that their arguments get more play than the opposition.

Help me understand

"The evidence clearly shows that many of our institutions of higher leaning are cesspools of atheism"
cess·pool (sspl)n.
1. A covered hole or pit for receiving drainage or sewage, as from a house.
2. A filthy, disgusting, or morally corrupt place.
And this is how Christians plan on evangelizing me...by equating my lack of belief with untreated human waste?
I say no thank you.
Why would you prohibit personal attacks in your feedback policy yet publish David Noebel's insulting attack on an entire group of people? This seems very far from the often quoted Christian policy of "...hate the sin but love the sinner".

- Cesspool
| Posted On: 05/15/08 10:49:32 PM | | Age 33, TX | Metaphorically speaking from a Christian viewpoint Mr. Noebel has correctly described the moral state of many institutions of higher learning where promiscuity, drunkenness, lascivious behavior, and sexual deviancy is the norm rather than the exception. His description is precisely a verbalization of his hate for sin and a love for God and His rightousness. If the description offends you then maybe you should examine the life you live rather than attacking the messenger. That has been humanity's response from the beginning however. It began with Adam, and it will end when the world ends. Click here to reply to this post
The Onslaught Isn't Sudden

The onslaught hasn't been sudden if people had paid attention. The "atheists" have been building to this for decades and this is just the inevitable outpouring of the movement.

- Maybe it will help you to understand
| Posted On: 05/15/08 05:30:54 AM | | Age 45, TX | that the author was taking about the philosophy of pre-French and pre-Bolshevik being revisited in many (not all) institutes of higher schooling. Surely you do not hold that these ideas were fertilizer to a better society? I also find it funny that in almost all discussions of this nature it is the so called purveyors of reason that get emotional claming insult and a violation of Christianity; the bible also say that a wise man welcomes reproof... - What Are You Talking About Sir?
| Posted On: 05/15/08 07:03:24 PM | | Age 40, NH | 1. I claim no offense or anything else so whatever you may have been replying to, it wasn't my post.
2. It is not a, "sudden onslaught" when it has been building and being released more and more over the decades. The author can talk of the pre-Bolshevik and pre-French thinking but that doesn't make this onslaught anymore sudden. Since I said the atheists have been building to this for decades, that would make it not sudden and quite possibly pre-Bolshevik.
3. Please point to the "emotional" aspect of my supposed "offense" from my post. You will find none there.
4. Most importantly, you misuse Scripture about reproof since your post has nothing to do with my post except that both posts are on the same website.
Before attempting to correct, rebuke, teach or anything else, please make sure you are addressing;
1. A real issue with another person (which your response to my post demonstrates you have no issue to reprove me for).
2. Make sure you are correctly handling the word of Yahweh. Your attempt to correct me for something I haven't done is the misuse of Scripture.
3. Read the posts and then take a moment or two and then re-read the post(s) before you respond. This way you are not being hasty and can catch yourself before being wrong.
We ALL make mistakes (I have responded to the wrong post before and maybe this is what happened to you, maybe not) posting. Sometimes it is clicking the wrong spot, sometimes it is just plain being wrong. I am not sure which of these two reasons it is for you sir.
Grace and Peace,

- Response to Bombs and Bullets
| Posted On: 05/15/08 01:42:19 PM | | Age 42, NM | A few thoughts:
1) Just because people claiming to be Christians have abortions and get divorced, does not mean that Christianity supports or encourages it.
2) Jesus came to save sinners - not perfect people. Its those convicted of sin that come to Christ. When they do, they receive forgiveness, but that does not mean the consequences of poor choices goes away.
3)Who ever said that Christians want to bomb the world into submission to Christianity? Christians may support war efforts, but never in an effort to make another nation submit to God. Governments, according to the Bible, have been instituted for the purpose of protecting the innocent and convicting the guilty. Sometimes they do it well, other times they don't. But either was Christianity itself does not support bombing for the sake of winning converts. That idea is an idea of your own mind, but not of reality. Christianity does not teach that, nor does any Christian I've ever heard speak. Click here to reply to this post
