I've been saying for a number of years (probably 20 anyway) that James Dobson was NOT a fundamentalist in his beliefs. Too bad these "para churches" have to be so favorably viewed by the masses.
Let's get back to basics! Let's remember that Jesus died for the local N.T.Church. If it would do what it's supposed to do, we would have no need of orginazations like FOF

That is Funny

Seeing someone attempt to make Ingrid (the Maureen Dowd of religionists) Schlueter into a heroine "who have the courage and boldness to defend the faith regardless of the cost" while Ravi Zacharias has confronted hostile leaders of terrorist groups (in unsafe settings)with the Messiah makes me laugh quite heartily. Maybe when Ingrid shows real courage (and real understanding of Scripture too) and stops throwing flaming arrows from the comfort of a studio room and a microphone God would be pleased, honored and lifted up.
Grace and Peace,
Jim

I am no longer receiving information from Focus on the Family. It is clear that they have crossed over to the side of compromise. Here are two sayings that I have read recently "Too often what passes for unity is really compromise" and It is better to be divided by Truth than united in error. I will not take counsel from those who are compromising Gods Word and who do not stand for Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He is the only road to salvation. I appreciate Worldview staying on top of these issues. Thank you and God Bless

I am also very dissapointed in the actions of the Dobsons.I admired Dr.Dobson for many years for his stands on many things that had to do with the family.I can't imagine why such seemingly intelligent people who profess Christinity would fall this low.I truly pray that they see their error and admit it to the many people who look up to them.

Thank you for sharing this information about Focus On The Family. They are not above criticism even though they sometimes act like they are. We need to lovingly help our brothers and sisters when they are wrong and make sure the others they are leading in the wrong direction are warned. If only more Christians were not so afraid to step on some toes in a loving manner. We would probably see the Church grow spiritually by leaps and bounds.

"Fix your eyes on Jesus...", don't focus on the family

The Dobsons have little to do with genuine Christianity, except to draw off people at the margins of true faith in Christ. Sure, like the Moslems, we share some moral views with them. But they are not teaching Christianity! Those margins were large as the American church had been decaying for decades, according to Tozer and others. The Dobsons have long been disorienting those who might come to Christ by sidetracking them with their Freudian psychotherapy, sanitized perhaps-with even an occasional Bible verse thrown in. The Apostles warned that people would be lovers of themselves in the last days, and the Dobsons made it a kind of righteous duty to love oneself. Instead Holy Scripture teaches us to "...fix our eyes on Jesus..."Heb 12:2NIV, and Heb 3:1..."fix your thoughts on Jesus..."-NOT on the family. How is it professed Bible believers can not understand that "Focus on the Family" is at odds with "fix your eyes/thoughts on Jesus"? How can you not see Dobson's self-love in the conflict presented by 2 Tim 3:1-5? What magic is it about the self-esteem/love of Dobson that has so blinded your eyes?? Obey verse 5:"have nothing to do with them."
And what about "I am the way, the truth, and the life..."? Jesus is the truth. Keep your eyes and thoughts on him. And he is beautiful! Look closely at God. Frederick Faber wrote that nothing was so wonderful as to gaze on God. Since you can't get it elsewhere, including from your pastor, take it upon yourself to look at God--As the Bible talks about him. The O.T. has much to say about him, ie Isaiah 40-49. Jesus is the human manifestation of God, what could be more beautiful? Watch him as he stops to help the grieving widow preparing to bury her only son. See the compassion of the Lord of glory as ge brings him back from the dead. What a wonderful Savior! Why would anyone take their eyes off him to look on a family, especially when the Apostle tells you not to? Look at Moses. He became most humble after spending time with God! Join the angels in joyful assembly Heb 12:22-23. You will have enough of whatever you need left over for your family- if you ignore Dobson, and keep your focus on Jesus.
Those who would return to the ancient paths spoken of by Jeremiah 6:16,--you will find rest---because Christ's yoke is easy, and his burden is light. Step away from those lost people. Focus on Christ!
