Emerging Catastrophe

The Dobson report is a shocker. However, in the US today the local church appears to be on a slippery slope. My son has joined one these well known ECs and it breaks my heart. He was raised differently and was a strong Bible student and believer. He was swayed by the charisma and pseudo Bible intellectual scholars. So don't assume parents that your Christian sons and daughters are safe from the apostate church. Would you please give a biblical, side by side comparison of the EC and Biblical Evangelical view with scripture notations. Many believers today do not know or understand what is going on and the differences of the EC. This would be of great value rather than narritive opinions. Thank you for shedding light on this issue.

Emergent or Apostate?

Why not call these false churches by their proper name rather than cave in to their politically correct name? They are Apostate" churches and because of their rejection of the true Christ I have no problem calling them cults.
"Emergent" has a positive conotation that they do not deserve.

Not Surprised

Dobson has been drifting into the world for quite a while. He has said and done many fine things, but drifting toward Emergent is extremely dangerous. The question is simple: What must one do to be Saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ!
The praises of men are intoxicating. I fear he is succumbing to marketing and hype. And probably to a decline in revenue.

| Posted On: 05/02/08 09:18:41 PM | | Age 42, TN | I have heard Dr. Dobson personally give an invitation to Christ. He also has said over and over again that he is not a reverend, he is a psychologist. He promotes living a life pleasing to God. His perspectives on self-esteem are Biblical. He understands our greatest need is to know God. There are serious situations going on in the lives of many and he has good Biblical, sound advice. Click here to reply to this post

Dobson's Agree With Emergent Church

I am not suprised by Dobson's wife doing this at all. You haven't been paying attention. Dobson wants the respect of the World and he plays Christian when he has a Christian audience and a Pychologist when he has a Worldly audience. I never trust a christian like that. Alan Keyes is the same way, Politician when with the World. You will never get Dobson to renounce anything that is even close to "christianity". He is part of the Ecumenical movement and like the Pope he doesn't apologize.

For everybody who agrees with Brannon about this issue, I would ask that you contact FOF, with your concerns and tell everybody you know to do the same! If hundreds of people write, call, or email FOF with these concerns and let them know that they won't support a ministry going down this path, they may turn away!!!!

Emergent Church & Dr. Dobson

Until a few months ago I had never heard of the "Emergen Church" and I have been a minister for 43 years, and have attended Worlview Weekend at Branson. I am opposed to any group that dilutes the gospel message against sin, the primacy of preaching repentance and salvation through faith in the atonement that Christ made for us.
However, I think you are resorting to "guilt by association" which I do not think is Biblical. You are saying that Jesus ate with sinners, oh, I mean that Dr. Dobson associated with sinners. He has stood for the truth of the Bible for years and as far as I can tell, he still does so. Would you want his wife to thank Dr. S for the bad work he has done? No, she was just being polite, and you took execption to it.
Thanks for all your good work. I will still read your messages and attend the Weekend when I can. Even though I disagree with you on this item.

Dr. Dobson is is a man of God

I have been a faithful listener and supporter of Dr. Dobson and Focus on the family for close to 25 years. I have several of his books and two wonderful nearly grown children. I believe he has put his whole life and heart into helping families through life's struggles biblically. The values he teaches are Biblically sound. He has done more for America and many parts of the world through his ministry than any other ministry that I can think of. I know families in Germany that are thankful for his enouragement in raising families. He also fights endlessly to promote Biblical principles in society such as marriage between a man and woman and has saved many babies through his work in promoting prolife. Because of his ministry my family sees the importance of being involved in community. He has helped launch Moms-In-Touch, homeschool, Pregnancy Crisis Centers and countless other opportunities. I don't believe there is any evil agenda in anything he does. He only wants to further the gospel through the gifts God has given him.

- is he really a man of God?
| Posted On: 05/10/08 11:49:37 PM | | Age 29, IN | In all of your post I don't see you mentioning all the souls that have been saved. I agree he has done a lot of good for family values in this country and world but doing good isn't enough. We as followers of CHRIST should be spreading the gospel of sin - repentance - faith in Jesus Christ. Who cares who marries who and who is murdered in the womb if they die in their sins. Those things are important but can't be the only things we focus on. Click here to reply to this post

Thank you!

Brannon:
Thank you for being willing to stick your neck out, do the research, and confront in His love. This is very hard work. Stand strong in His strength. The time is short or the enemy of our soul wouldn't be so busy.

The pastor of the church I sometimes attend, has adopted and adapted many of the seeker friendly/emergent "church" ideas. He thinks some of the authors involved in these movements are "great." He calls some of them his "heroes" presently "in the faith." Sadly and concerned, I have lovingly confronted him about some of these heretical, antichrist individuals and the antichrist nature of these movements, he shrugs his shoulders and says that "not all of them are bad." As you stated in your piece, Dobson and associates lend credibility to this demonically inspired movement by associating with them publicly. Perhaps not all of the leaders involved in the movement are "bad" but they too, by association, are giving credibility to everyone in the movement. Sadly, most common believers get caught up, unawares I think, by movements such as these and it takes years of recovery (spiritual) to come out of these insidious, satanic movements. Some never recover and never return.
This movment needs a good, solid, balanced book to define the cliches of the movement, to expose those who are its spokesmen/women and to expose the evil underbelly and to then thrust the sword by revealing the truth of the Gospel.
This whole movement is diminishing the impact of the truth at a very crucial time in our nations history and in the history of the world. Sadly, when people turn away from God, they substitute for their emptiness, fabricated worship, pseudo faith, idolatrous images and false teaching to fill the void of the lost presence of the Living God.

- Confused
| Posted On: 05/03/08 06:34:40 PM | | Age 46, IN | I am attending a church where the pastor and deacons have decided we will not go the way of the emerging church. But we consistently watch videos and bible studies featuring emerging church leaders such as Erwin McManus, Rob Bell, Rick Warren, and Bill Hybels just to name a few. We also have put in a coffee house in the kitchen and couch area for the youth No one talks about the Emerging movement and I have been afraid to ask. So it's kind of scary the secretive feelings going around. Especially when 3-4 families have left the church for this reason and no one discusses it or why they left. Click here to reply to this post
- Reponse to confused 46 In Confronting emergent movement in your church
| Posted On: 05/07/08 08:26:09 AM | | Age 63, IN | I am like many of you who are aware of the infiltration of the apostasy into our churches under the guise of Purpose or other Emergent authors. Our Pastors,in most cases, are unaware as they are to busy to investigate and are delighted with the prospect of a growing church. My approach is to take source quotes or articles by these authors and compare them to scripture in a letter to the Pastor and ask him to discuss my scriptural assessment. Then allow the Holy Spirit to work in his heart and keep your discussion with him focused on the Word. SO far , he has stopped using "The Message" and John Ortberg material. I am working on the Warren stuff. I have waited 5 months for a meeting, no response yet. This is hard to do, but we are to honor God and be watchmen on the wall. 2Jn 1:9-11 esp. 11.
