Disappointed in Rice

I am sad to discover Condoleeza's shortcomings. I was a supporter and even thought she'd make a great president, but not now. Thank you, Janet, for spelling it out clearly and factually.

So sorry to learn these things. Until now, I thought Condi Rice might make a good VP. I won't want her under these conditions.

Condi for VP

Janet, apparently you haven't be keeping up with all the news, but Ms. Rice has refuted the claims that she was wanting to be on anyone ticket for ANY ELECTED OFFICE! She has and still maintains that when Bush is out, she wants to go back to be a professor or possibly the Commissioner of Major League Baseball. Many folks have literally begged her to consider running for President and Vice President and she has adamantly publicly rejected it. The rumor of her bid for VP is a suspected Obama camp ploy.
I have to say, that once upon the time I thought Condi would make an excellent choice for President or V.P., but in light of her Middle East policies, I have since retracted that support. However, I have not been aware of Condi's "Pro-Choice" stands, but since your information about her bid for the V.P. job is flawed, I am still not sure about her Pro-Choice position. It also appears that your attack on Ms. Rice a little on the venomous side, but I could be wrong as well.
At this point, I don't think I would thump my chest about being a Republican! The Republican party has never really had many of the things as you accredited them with having as part of their platform. They have had "Conservative" candidates that have had those positions, but the party itself, still has a fair amount of moderate and liberals in its ranks. Fifty years ago, the Democrats had the lion's share of Conservatives in it. Even the beloved Ronald Reagan was a Democrat for early part of his adult life. The Republican party no longer holds even half of the "Conservative" ideals you espoused as your positions above. So it looks like you might should start looking for another party. Barring a "Strong Defense", which in light of so many Republican's initial support of the Amnesty bill last year, and resistances to a Border Fence, I'd say their position as the "National Defense" party, is on very shaky ground! Bush's support of a Palestinian homeland to be carved out of Israel, and the decaying support for Israel among Republicans and this country as a whole, should have you ready to bail out of the GOP. The GOP has sent a message to Christian Conservatives... "We don't want your antiquated morality or Christian beliefs any more, so just vote for who we tell you to, and shut up!" We are treated like lepers for following Yahushua Hammashiach and publicly stating our beliefs, by both Republicans and Democrats, which you can't tell a wit's worth differences unless you look to see whether they have a "R" or a "D" after their name!
One last thing; Lincoln didn't begin the Civil War to free the Slaves, but to stop the Southern stats from seceding from the Union. Slavery was the sales pitch Lincoln used to sell the War to the Northern States who really didn't care one way or the other as to whether the South left the Union. Jefferson Davis, the Confederate President of the Confederacy later said, that He should have freed the Slaves at the beginning of the secession process, which would have very likely lead to a much different out come to the Civil War.
Just trying to make sure the TRUTH doesn't get trampled to badly!
Mark

Janet, you seem to have a good bit of influence. It is good to hear you speak so "mildly" about Condi Rice. George Cancilla

Remaining a Republican

I agree wholeheartedly with Janet regarding Condi Rice, but Janet remains too loyal to a party platform that is pure fiction as far as deeds go. From her article, I quote Janet--" I will remain one until the Republican Party ceases to stand for my beliefs, including the basic principles of life, marriage, less government and a strong defense."
The Republican Party was in control of both the Congress and the Presidency----all they came up with was the partial birth abortion ban which saved no lives. The marriage amendment has not seen the light of day and certainly the growth of government we've seen is scarey with President Bush getting his way with Americans having to give up their freedoms with the Patriot Act, getting rid of Habeus Corpus, and the soon to be implemented National ID Act. In addition, the spending under the Republicans was the worst it's ever been. Janet is fooling herself when she believes the platform words, but does not see the actions of the Republicans. Additionlly, Bush got us back into UNESCO, which Ronald Reagan to his credit, got us out of. If we want smaller government, we've got to get out of these foreign entanglements.
Finally, I too believe in a strong defense. The key word here is DEFENSE. Not preemptive war. Iraq has been a disaster. This war cannot be called a just war. The objectives and goals keep changing as the failures mount.
No Janet, either you don't watch what the Republican party has been doing, or you don't really believe what you say you do. Actions speak louder than words as the saying goes. Sometimes it's hard to get out of our comfort zone.

- Republicrats!
| Posted On: 04/14/08 03:59:35 PM | | Age 61, MO | The two party political system in the US has morphed into one major power political system that has created candidates to its own liking. Most recently we have elected government officials that could care less about their constituents, and have brought corruption and calamity to the U.S. government. The way to go is to try to elect candidates who are anything but Republican or Democrat, but it may already be too late because the incumbent officials and representatives are so distanced from the people, that we are just a small step away from a complete dictatorship and martial law.
