I am not surprised to see a merging of New Age/New Spirituality with what we are calling "Emergent" churches. Both of these movements are not of God, but rooted in Adam man trying to put himself at levels of spirituality equal to God. First of all, there is no evolution of Adam man's nature or mind. God's plan is NEVER to fix the inherent brokeness of Adam man, but rather to replace that mind with that of Christ. This is why we use the term "born again." It is only by conviction of the Holy Spirit that Adam man will ever repent and surrender to Christ. It will never be the work of Adam man, no matter how intellectually astute he may become. Second, there is only ONE Holy Spirit, Christ, God. Any other spirits are of satan and his demons. The emergents say: "He models the hard work, spiritual life, and persistent mission demanded of Christ-followers today.” Christ says: "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light." (Matthew 11:29-30). The fact that there are large numbers of people exploring these New Age and Emergent "doctrines" is evidence of the truth Jesus spake: "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and MANY there be which go in thereat."
