Homework Assignment - Need responses

Have we been too quick to lose our faith in the church and the Christian thiestic worldview? And if the West has lost it's faith in secularism and human reason, isn't this the time when the theologians of today should intelligently and effectively communicate the truth of Jesus Christ, the hope of the world? We are at a crucial point in history where Christians need to take an active stand and be a voice for we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us, to reach our culture with the mission: "we beg you, on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God." Any thoughts on this feedback?

Because we desired to build the Church with our own standards, in our own image, because we built the body with our unregenerated children and went for size and not purity you have all sorts of junk that masquerades as christianity. Let's win the World for Jesus, sound great but at what cost? Fill them up, just say the magic prayer, catechism, show up and morph are the way to increase your size...and big is succesfull right? The mustard seed grows to a mutation of a tree (not a bush) and the workers of Satan make their abodes in the highest most visible branches.

Christian means OTHER
Posted On: 03/14/08 09:41:12 AM Age 47, MO
What is worse than the rise of Spirituality over paganism is the fact that it is under the guise of Christianity. Sure 89% of Americans believe in a god, but 78% of those call themselves Christians. However, the term Christian has been hijacked to mean "other." Other than Islam, other than Buddhism, other than Jewish, other than ???. And why not, isn't the Christ taught in most churches the all loving, tolerant, compassionate, god who understands our human frailty? The God of history who inhabits the praises from a circumcised heart is no longer preached. Basically, true Christians fell asleep at the wheel and no longer contend for the faith. John

Not only is this article much needed and on target, ya'll need to about Peter Jones. This man has written a most excellent book, "Stolen Identity", which examines the Gnostic version of Jesus and compares that to the Biblical account of the Lord, pointing out the dangers of accepting the Gnostics. He uses "The DaVinci Code" as a prime example of Gnostic beliefs.

Remembering an old song
Posted On: 03/13/08 12:10:54 PM Age 64, FL
I, too, remember an old song and wrote the following poem about it. Parenting Clones There was an old song That goes back many years It was considered a joke But today brings fears. I'm my own grandpa As the song was sung Today they say We can clone our young. A woman can be the twin sister Of her Mother, you see No biological father Is needed to be. The daughter of her grandmother All this, and they want more For future generations Clone us, they roar. Solving genetic anomalies A New Age priest is quoted But even today's cloned animals Are alive but not normal it is noted. The process of manufacturing humans To specifications pre-ordained by others Eluding human procreation that is God-ordained to Fathers and Mothers. Is a very bad idea We should stand and fight It perverts our relationship to God He ordained us His delight! A foot in the door Stem cell research is the key They sugar coat the issue It brings big bucks you see. Using frozen human embryos Saying they are dead When standing before God they'll wish Those words had never been said. The killing of the human embryo They say is all right Conquering diseases for self Justifies their fight. I wonder if God is laughing He's The Master designer of all things But somehow I think tears Are flowing from the King of Kings. As in the days of Noah Words in the Bible that we find When the disciples asked of His coming Wanting Jesus to give them a sign. Dear ones, we are in the days of Noah There can be no doubt When we claim to advance science And leave God out. BY: Elaine Kelly Merritt July 24, 2001

The Anti Christian Aquarian Age
Posted On: 03/13/08 11:59:32 AM Age 61, MO
Throughout the history of man, the anti Christian spirits have vied for men's souls, and the inherrent evil nature of men's hearts have made men easy prey for these demonic spirits. Many people have just not been satisfied to know that the Truth of the cosmos is in God's Word (Logos). So humans, with their vain imaginations, have sought to devise myths to explain the mystery of God which is contained in Christ Jesus. All sorts of magic have been devised since James and Jambres of Pharoah's court. Anything to counter the real Truth of Christ. The stars of the Zodiak have been of particular interest to some of these soothsayers, and it is from their studies of astrology that we have the idea of an "Age of Aquarius." This age, which purportedly brings peace, harmony, and understanding, is the mythical version of Christ's return to a new earth with His Bride. The mythical anti Christian threads run parallel to the Word throughout history, and are often subtle to deceive us. George Cancilla

Either/or
Posted On: 03/13/08 10:57:59 AM Age 59, SC
Dear Peter, I have to disagree a bit with you. It isn't a contest; it isn't a question of either/or; the correct answer is "both A and B." Both pagan spirituality and secular humanism involve the doctrine of demons that we are our own gods and a person can slip nicely back and forth between the two. When a Secular Humanist falls into dispair over the narrow futility of his existance or inability to force his own will, then he can easily seek comfort from manipulable pagan forces. When he feels better, he can leave behind his myths and go about his business of being his own god again. Both secular humanism and pagan spirituality lets man exalt himself and avoid facing the very inconvenient and uncompromising true God. If you are making yourself a hamburger with tainted meat, does it really matter which side is up?

Humanism or athiesm is a trasitionary state. When one removes God from the equation, men will take on Gods responsibilities. Men will soon learn that they make lousy gods and seek to produce a diety in order to fill the void.

So many folks are spiritually enlightened by "mother earth" paganism in one form or another, witness the incredible man caused global warming "crisis". Many so called evangelicals today are being deceived. Thanks for your enlightening.

Pagan Christianity
Posted On: 03/13/08 09:29:07 AM Age 47, KS
It should not surprise us that paganism in the church is the deadly influence that is has become. The early church met in homes, was Torah obedient, clean foods eating, commandment following folks, like the Apostle Paul, and John, and Mark. After the influence of Constantine the several hundred year old "early" church was accepting such pagan practices in place of God's Feasts and Festivals (Passover, Sukkot, Feast of Dedication, etc) as the equinox based worship of pagan gods, such as Easter (based on Nimrod's wife's false religion of fertility), Christmas (based on the pagan worship of the sun and the occurrence of the winter equinox), etc. Several more years of pagan influence from Rome and its Sun Worship and Greece and its false god worship and you have had the paganization of the church for centuries. Only the true followers of Messiah have stuck to the first fruits of God's feasts and festivals, watching for the new moon, meeting God at His appointed times three times a day (as did Daniel in a pagan culture), eating clean foods, rather than the glut of unclean foods that are pushed down our throats in the American culture, women covering their heads, men being leaders and women being submissive, as mandated by the scriptures. There is still a remnant out here that has never strayed from the commandments of God, but you won't find many of them in organized churches. That is because our fathers, and their fathers, and their fathers before them recognized that paganism in the church had crept in more than centuries ago.

  1. Whoa there!

I go along with the idea that certain pagan elelments were brought into the church from the early years of Constantine, etc. as you have indicated; but to insinuate that those who do not follow the Old Testament ordinances (which were but a shadow of Christ to come) are not true followers of Messiah, is equally erroneous as the pagan rituals. (See Matthew 15:1-20). As far as woman wearing head coverings and being submissive to men, this concept is grossly misunderstood by many who do not understand the spiritual nature of these passages of Scripture which are describing the relationahip of Christ to His Bride, the Church. Anyone who proclaims themselves to be a remnant because they have not strayed from the commandments of God, is going to find themselves sadly embarrased on that final day of judgment. Christ needs to be our all and all, for He is only one Holy enough to suit God. We waste our time with our own vain attempts at righteousness. George Cancilla
