Relies on self

I notice that Joel Osteen likes to "look within himself" alot for answers. He said he spends the first half hour of each day looking within himself to see if he is on the right track? Does he ever talk to God to find answers? Does he look to scriptures at all to look for answers? How can someone who does not rely on God and His Word be called a "Pastor"?

If God looks at the heart, why should Joel Osteen not examine his own heart? Click here to reply to this post

You are the leader of a huge "church" and you don't know the basic doctrine of other faiths, and cults? That is truly sad. Sad for you since teachers are held to a higher standard and for the thousands that follow you whom may never see heaven because they were never told the Truth. How can you defend your faith when you don't know what you are defending, or know what the opponent has against you?

Poltically Correct Osteen Does It Again: Why Does This Guy Call Himself A Pastor?

Mr. Osteen
THIS is totally secular 'speak'. Christian discernment shows us crystal clear that having the Holy Spirit and these beliefs DO NOT MESH! Repent of the basic penchant human sin (have you ever, ever told a SINGLE lie, coveted in your heart of anything, kept the sabbath holy, always put God first, etc.) you were born with like the rest of us were born with and be regenerated and ENLIGHTED!

Joel Osteen needs to remember James 3:1 and tremble

This saddens me even more than his interview on Larry King Live, where I thought perhaps he was just afraid to stand up for the Lord Jesus Christ. To say that he doesn't know if Mormonism is unorthodox, simply because he hasn't studied Mormonism boggles my mind. We are supposed to know Scripture well enough to know if an idea is heresy the moment we hear it. If this is required of the average believer, how much more is this required of a pastor--one who teands a flock (and a very large flock, at that)?
If I could, I would ask Joel this one thing. Does he think that Satan believes that the Lord Jesus Christ is in fact the Son of God? Does Satan believe He rose from the dead? Is this enough to make Satan his brother, too?
Thank you, brother Steve, for not letting Joel off the hook. I pray that the Lord would convict him before he himself becomes hardened to the truth as WELL as Mitt Romney.
Yours in Christ,
Barbara

- joel osteen needs many prayers
| Posted On: 01/03/08 11:14:57 PM | | Age 31, OK | mr.osteen, i pray that you will read the book of jude and then after you do this you will take a look at your self and the way you teach, and then to know that you should be very scared knowing he was talking about you a couple of thousand years ago, as well as many others, if you dont repent now and start dying on the cross everyday and ask for the holy spirit to do so, instead of having the ruler of this worlds spirit which is satan , well just know that their is a heaven, but their is also a hell, and you know if you dont have the holy spirit in you and you dont teach the truth, then come judgement day you will go where the ruler of this world is going and thats to hell and those who follow your teachings will go with you and that scares me cause some of my family members simply adore you and i dont feel the way they do ,you dont fool real christians, but to those who read this i pray you will read your bibles and then you will see with gods help. everyone please pray for him cause theirs alot of peolpe who trust him with their souls and this is not a joke. love and prayers to all who reads this, im a sister to all who wants to serve jesus christ with all their heart and soul. god bless Click here to reply to this post

Unfortunately, saying "Lord, Lord" is not enough for salvation. The doctrine of salvation has been lost in the American culture! Dear God, please raise up men and women who will not shy away from Your truth--the whole truth!!!!!

Best life now

Well, the man wrote a book titled; Your best Life Now, so that kind of faith is to be expected. It's just another example of why we can't profess faith in scripture but Christ. Joel is not in Christ because he doesn't know or believe the things of the Lord. But he does know scripture and uses them to defend his theological POV. James 1:27 says perfect religion is to keep one's self unspotted from the world, Joel is deep into the world and a very rich man. John

I've been deeply concerned about Joel's 'gospel' since my first hearing him. It's the message I received in Southern Baptist churches growing up - "it's all up to me,there's not a relationship with Christ, just 'choose' to be good enough, smile and it'll be ok". I was in my late forties before I heard the truth about a relationship with my Heavenly Father God, through the very real Person of the Lord Jesus Christ. That they weren't 'way up there' removed from me, but right here, with very present input into my life, if I choose to let Him - different than 'choosing to live my life apart from Him', which Joel Osteen spews on a regular basis. Osteen leaves out the supernatural strength and leadership of God in his messages. He's VERY DANGEROUS. His message leaves people constantly feeling depressed and beating themselves up because they don't have the internal strength to live out what he preaches - and he doesn't point them to the necessary connection and DEPENDENCE on God!!!

- Don't Lump All Southern Baptist Churches Together
| Posted On: 01/04/08 01:14:32 PM | | Age 43, TN | I don't know what Southern Baptist Church (and just because they call themselves Baptist and are in the south does not make them Southern Baptist) you attended, I do know the one I currently attend teaches that to have salvation one MUST: 1) Know ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and admit our sinful nature 2) believe and confess that Jesus was God's son and a man born of a virgin, that Jesus died a horrible death, being crucified, for mine and your sins, and He arose on the third day and is currently seated at the right hand of the Father in Heaven, and finally 5) the Holy Spirit will come to abide within you and you will desire to have a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. This should be followed by the believer's baptism to identify with the Lord's death and resurrection and to show all men that you identify yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ as His servant. I can't understand why people can't see the truth behind Olsteen. He is a fake and a phony. He will not take a stand against anything or anyone. To say that he has never studied or knows nothing about the Mormon religion, for a pastor today, this is ridiculous. He should be fully aware of false religions and what they teach. For heaven's sake, Mit Romney is running for president of our United States. I would think as a concerned citizen and a spiritual leader for thousands, that he would be more aware of a possible leader of the greatest country in the world. Olsteen is fooling countless people and it is a shame.

"America's Pastor" proclaims: "I don't know"
| Posted On: 01/03/08 11:04:08 AM |

It is strikingly upsetting that "America's Pastor", the pastor of the largest church in America, proclaims on national television that he does not know the doctrines of his faith and the difference between Christianity and false religions. I am saddened that so many people follow Joel Osteen, who is an "ear tickler" and generally more a motivational speaker than a pastor. I didn't find it surprising to learn this past weekend that someone close to me is reading Joel Osteen's books, as well as books by Sylvia Brown (the psychic). Much prayer is needed for "Pastor" Osteen, his family, his congregants and his t.v. followers.

Cultic Delusion

Sorry to see Mr. Osteen wobble again on such critical issues as he has done before. Is Mr. Osteen not aware that all cults profess similar statements of believing on Christ You will not find any true Roman Catholic that will deny that (even including the homosexual/drunkard priest). Does Mitt believe that the book of Mormon is a later and better testament that our Bible? I could understand that a retarded religious person could be so easily deluded into believing the preposterious claims of Mormonism. but Romney doesn't appear to be mentally hindered, just spiritually. Mr. Osteen's "feel good" religion is very prominent.
