Caution
Posted On: 12/21/07 03:26:52 PM Age 49, GA
I apologize for the length but I felt led to share this which is very rare. As a father that has lost 2 children, nearly lost 2 others and currently am blessed with eight at home, may I offer a word of caution in your writing. Although I agree with your presentation I find myself wanting to hear more. Most of the writings I find are presented on the basis of our strength in Christ and a follow me attitude. I am constantly reminded of the Lord that in our weakness He is Strong. In Scripture we see our God intervening in miraculous ways through the tears of the one crying out to Him. Altough my situation had much of the same results through the trials of lost children and near death experiences I offer this testimony of the Lord's Greatness to us. Having lost identical sons in child birth did not prepare us for the day when our daughter, then eight complained of a head ache that lasted for more than a week. Then one day she experienced a total loss of hearing, loss of eyesight, loss of motor functions and then while in route to the hospital stopped breathing and went limp in my wife's lap, while I was driving. Although trained in emergency medical procedures my heart could only cry out in pain to the one true God able to save my daughter. I had experienced agony in the death of my sons and was revisiting it once again. What seemed an eternity of prayer ended with my daughter asking in a small voice "Where are we?" Although I never ceased praying during the years of healing that followed mostly they were prayers of worship to the faithfulness of My Lord and His great mercy upon us, a family of sinners. You see my daughter had become infected with viral encephalitis through a mosquito bite which brought on the head ache. She is the only child that our doctors or our research could find that has lived without any side affects, most die very fast the rest have serious mental problems. The Lord is not saying that we must endure trials and hardship with Joy! The Joy comes in the all sufficiency of our Lord and knowing that He can do all that we ask and abundantly more. My faith is being perfected in my perfect Lord. I can now ask without doubting as my faith is being perfected every day of my life through more and more trials and His provision through all of them. The Lord is saying that without trials we will not have our faith perfected. Without faith it is impossible to please the Lord. Have Joy when trials come upon you because He is able to carry you through everything this world can throw at us. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away blessed be the name of the Lord!

Clearing up the definition of joy is probably needed... The joy you experience during a trial is not the same joy found in this world its by knowing God is in control. And that Jesus paid the price for my sins so thats the joy.... a constant gratitude towards our Savior. Repent and be Saved

This is a great article. I have been going through so many things and I just feel drained. I was beginning to doubt God's faithfulness but this article definitely helped me get back on track. My circumstances are still bad but now I am trusting in the Lord. Thanks

Thank you for this encouraging testimony. Just last night I was on the phone with my Father-in-law talking about this very thing. My husband is in Iraq right now, and just before he left last year we lost a baby due to miscarriage. The strength that I had during that time and right now as I trust God's sovereignty is what keeps me going. God is in control, and he is faithful!!

Thanks so much for writing this. In the last year my church merged w/ another church and there were so many problems, that we had to make an extremely hard decision to leave. That almost killed me emotionally. Then our oldest child began to walk away from the Lord and live a "college life". This has been so painful too. God has taught me he never changes and he is in control and I can trust him. This article just help confirm that.
