Rick Warren's church growth movement sounds like Calvary Chapel meets marketing 101. The two have too many commonalities to write about, but they also expect all to fall in line with the Pastor or your are shunned.

Biblical Unity

The unity spoken of in Scripture is not a religious unity or a denominational unity. It is unity of the Spirit. (See Ephesians 4:3ff). More about what Biblical unity is can be found in Ephesians chapter four in its entireity. I have appreciated the thorough and correct discussion of this article. Thank you. George Cancilla

UNITY IS NOT EVERYONE AGREEING -that is a cult. The unity the Bible speaks of is that everyone looks to the same head which is Jesus Christ and are therefore all part of THE SAME BODY.- 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. - The pharisees got rid of troublemakers and the first to go was Jesus Christ and then James and others. - In Jerusalem before it's fall there were 200 false prophets but only one true prophet, Jeremiah.- ANY LEADER THAT SAYS OR IMPLIES TO FOLLOW, BELIEVE, OR TRUST HIM IS A FALSE PROPHET. Every true leader that God has sent always says to follow, believe, and trust only Jesus Christ. - Satan's greatest lie is NOT greed and lust but he always attacks the foundation first. The foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Satan tells those who will listen that Jesus is a Savior but not God, or Jesus is all love but not a God of justice. He always lies about who Jesus is. The One thing that Satan will try to keep from everyone is that The Lord Jesus Christ is the Creator of everything that exists, He is the One and Only God Almighty, He is the One and Only Savior, Jesus is the Only Way and there is no other way, the Only condition to being saved is to trust in Jesus, AND NOTHING ELSE,to save you. The problem is that Rick warren is not alone in this false unity. Freedom in the church is a RARE thing and not common. I hear preachers imply that people should follow them in a lot of churches. I hear preachers in the church tell people to trust and follow the Bible when the Bible says to trust and follow Jesus Christ. Lou

Eric Barger's article ignores the context of Rick Warren's statement and the clear teaching of Scripture that Warren applies. Warren does not teach unity at the expense of truth. But he does teach leadership that confronts unbiblical resistance.

"unBiblical resistance" - according to whom - Rick Warren and other pastors who follow the Purpose Driven Lie? The resistance is coming from those who do know what the Word of God has to say; that the Word does not teach to to "agree to disagree" but to hold to sound doctrine. Since Bible study is not taught or encouraged in Rick Warren or any of the "seeker-friendly/emergent" churches, "unBiblical resistance" would not be discerned even if it was happening.Rather than be branded as "sowers of discord" and "critical, judgmental" etc., those who discern the heresy that is happening in these churches do leave, realizing that it will take the Lord to open the eyes of those who are so blinded to the false teaching that is now rampant in the Body of Christ.The sad part is that many have "grown up" in these churches and are so thoroughly brain-washed that any attempt to open their eyes to the truth is met with vehement anger that can only be compared to the response of some non-believers when confronted with the gospel.

That is absolutely incorrect.Rick Warren does not care one bit about Biblical truth. It is his way, or no way. This Purpose Driven drivel is no more than a cult. And when you join, be sure and sign his covenant of "Don't make waves". Or they will throw you out. Whether you are defending the Word of God against his horrible theology, or just the plain truth of scripture. You will be asked or told to leave. Now how can anyone even think this is Christ like?
