Mrs. Folger, you have crossed the line between advocating for a candidate, and treating him like the Second Coming. Get real. There are other candidates who would oppose abortion, the "Fairness Doctrine," and government interference in homeschooling. Stop behaving as though we will all die, our houses will burn and we will die, my gracious we're going to die, and try to bring something OTHER than propaganda to the table.--Mrs. Pilgrim

What an excellent article- I wish that it would have used the very words of Martin Niemoller but...I didn't write it! It is a problem in America that we don't follow a Christian worldview- we think we are immune to problems because we are free! But, as our society becomes more and more post-Christian, post-Modern, post-whatever, we have become more partisan, and more willing to support what is wrong- including embracing one party despite who the put in front of us! Clinton would lead us down a sure path towards socialism and persecution, but dare we elect someone like Guiliani or Romney who have consistant records that echo a lesser Hilary? Dare we choose someone who will still lead us down the wrong path, just at a slower pace? Why do we have to choose between the lesser of two evils! I echo great German Theologian (and friend of Niemoller) when I say that I am a Christian first, and secondly a citizen of the United States. I will make sure to elect the person who best exemplifies what the Bible says- not the person who looks pretty or has the "best chance"! I agree with this article when it says that she supports Huckabee- but for the very reason that he is a firm Christian (the debate once again proved that the other night by noting the truth of scripture, pro-life, etc.). He is a man that I can trust because he has principles based on the Bible which he is in line with. I just pray that he has enough support (et tu Pat Robertson, Sam Brownback). Examine Huckabee closely, and hopefully he (or someone else) can lead us forward rather than down a slippery, socialist, one world government filled slope to destruction!

Wow, I've never read so much input from the younger crowd. Good for you, but you will learn more about life and politics as you age. It's a natural thing, so don't be offended. It's good to see that you are passionate about God and the politics we have been so ingulfed in. I think the older generation has lost their passion for God and everything else for that matter, and I am one of the elder, so I think I can speak for my cohorts. We are so disallusioned and depressed about the state of our country, that we give up and don't know the power of one. I am afraid to fail, so I won't go to the nearest Take 2 video store and protest against the porn in our town. The only thing I do is gripe and vote. Come on boomers, where is the back bone we used to have when we believed so strongly about our 'rights to party' in the 60's and 70's? If anyone stood against us, we would protest it. We went out into the streets carrying signs, getting arrested. We fought in every state for those rights, now where are we? Mindless, living off the government we spurn. Since we won't do anything as one, alone, let's stand together as God's children, and tell the world, we are not going to take it anymore. If we are lucky, we'll end up in the cell next to Janet. :~) Brenda

Hmm, maybe a bit of persecution in our lives would benefit every Christian. Seems to me the truth is alive and well in countries where Christians are persecuted and killed daily for their beliefs. What do we have here, seeker sensitive, mega churches, life coaches, spirituality, new age oh and don't forget the latest christian fad, Post Modernism and the Emergent Church. I'm all for persecution, maybe we'll all wake up and weed out the chaff. And yes, we're here to do God's will, not the other way around, put your faith in God, not some politician. Speak out against these Christian fads and put your faith where it should be.

That was fantastic! Granted, you left out a few players, ignored the fact that(so far as I can recall) most politicians on either side of the aisle are Christians, and glossed over the Hucksters shortcomings, but, nonetheless, that was a superb piece of sensationalism masquerading itself as a thoughtful critique on politics.

Please, please stop with the crazy paranoia. This is the reason that Christians are increasingly losing their voice in the culture - not b/c the culture has rejected Christ (which is enough of a stumbling block as it is) but because so many in the family write and believe crazy, crazy things like this. Honestly - and not to be inflammatory at all - I believe that you do more damage to the name of Christ with propaganda pieces like this than any secular humanist could ever, ever do.

      How old was Timothy? Are elders old? I found the remarks of the 20-something year old to be at least thought provoking even if I do not agree with his/her comments. When I cannot read someone's opinion without personal attack, could that be because I might have to consider their opinion, ask questions of my opinion, and possibly seek truth in a matter. The thoughts I had in response to the 20-something year old were: are we like the Jews in Jesus time who prevent people from the Kingdom by our words, actions, doctrines, and traditions? As a teenager, I went to a "christian" school- so much of what I encountered there was a push away from Christ because of what these cultural churchians displayed. They were not salt and light. They were not holy. Most were tares and goats. Examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith- not just for your own ticket to heaven but are you being salt and light to those around you, or are you spewing tradtitions and doctrines of men?

Holy Over-dramatic! This is maybe the most unbelievably nihilistic, ridiculous thing I have ever read. I can appreciate a little hyperbole, but good grief. This is overboard. The most over-dramatic part of this "letter" is not the prediction of what would happen if Mrs. Clinton is elected, or how good it would be for The United States of America (i.e. God's chosen nation...apparently) if Mr. Huckabee is elected. No, the most ridiculous part of this is that the author thinks themself important enough that they would be imprisoned--it's laughable; that and assuming Christianity will be outlawed if a democratic candidate is elected is completely unfounded. Mr. Huckabee will not be, any more than any other person, the cure or God's answer for this country. Let us remember that he too is human. The author's zeal is quite something, albeit misdirected. You people better figure out who you're going to vote for. It doesn't appear that you will have your pet candidate who mirrors your beliefs on your two favorite platforms. You might have to use your collective head and vote for the candidate who will make the best president--not just the person who agrees with your view of abortion and homosexuality. I can't wait for the 2008 election--to see you people waste your votes on a third party candidate: your own veritable Ross Perot. Hahaha!
