Heretic. How can one deny the principles of the faith and think to remain within the fold? He certainly distorts the truth of God's Word.

Heretic. If you cant even admit that there is a Heaven and a Hell, which are real PLACES, and there is only one name in which men must be saved - you are a heretic.

Heretic!!! Big time! When one cannot clearly state that one who does not know Jesus Christ as Savior, (Muslims, Buddhists, etc) is bound for hell (this is what the Bible states, Jn 14:6) then he is a heretic! PERIOD!

Absurd! Mr. Pagitt seems to think God's dealing with man boils down to the "bad kids" having to miss recess! Ignores clear, New Testament teaching.

Of course Doug Pagitt is a heretic. If he is not then no one is. Contradicting or nulifying the clear teaching of Jesus Christ is a text book definition of heretic. I don't even know why this is a subject for debate.
If the Bible does not mean what it says, if it means whatever you think it means, then it really means nothing at all.
It would make as much sense to discuss whether or not Black is Yellow. I'm sure you could find people that think Black is Yellow but why bother?

HERESY
Sorry, can't do it in one sentence, but I can explain it from Scripture (which is more than what Doug Pagitt is willing to do).
I can't stand all of the "I think this...I think that" in there. It doesn't matter what YOU think. What does the Author intend it to say. Principle of Hermeneutics 101, DUH!
Galatians 1:6-10 (New King James Version)
6...but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

This was frustrating to say the least. This guy's tone! "You mean you think heaven is a literal place?"
Well yeah! What bible is this man reading?
It is sad that these people are even known names. Between this guy, Rob Bell, Rick Warren, and Oprah (yes I said it) so many people are on the fast track to hell thinking they are following God.

Heretic! He disputed the very words of Jesus saying Todd was stringing them together to form his own meaning!

Let's be clear? Clear, as in, your interpretation of what the scriptures say about these issues? Clear, as in how your interpretation of these scriptures is different than say, the interpretation of
many Christians 1000 years ago? Who was wrong, who was right?
Do you have the arrogance to say that you are correct about all of these issues, while others who choose to disagree with you are "damned"?
You sound just like the pharisees that criticized Jesus...

Well please read a little further where Jesus Said that we'd know them by their fruits.
We are not to judge others, when we're doing just the same, or worse.
But we are warned to be on the lookout for those who would deceive us.
Matthew 7:15-23, "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
So then, you will know them by their fruits.
Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.
Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'
And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.' " Click here to reply to this post
