Violence only begets more violence. Are we really any better than the terrorists? Think about it.

I agree that this fast is a shocking thing as it is a call for all involved to convert to secular humanism forsaking all other gods and meeting on the plain that for Christians is forsaking the only true God of the Holy Bible. I am sure that our opponents in this war share a similar exclusive view as in Islam they believe that there god is the only true god. People just do not understand the facts of this war, it is a world war of two groups that are not countries of earth but kingdoms with rulers that have no borders and world views that are ultimately exclusive. This is a War against the only true God of the Holy Bible and the forces of darkness that seek to destroy all humanity, it has only once again in this time become active in the physical world. This author believes that it is a sign of the end of time; we must keep our focus on the need to lift up the name of Jesus as the only real way to true peace.

I preach at a Quaker church every 1st day and I listen to these people who think Jesus was a pacifist. They are so foolish to think that if we lay down our arms our enemies will do the same. One could easily think that these people would change their mind if they lived in a Muslim country where they would watch their children be killed for preaching the name of Jesus in public. It is a lot easier to be a pacifist in a country where brave men have laid down their lives so that we may live in freedom. They base their false view of Jesus on the scripture "if a man strikes you on the cheek turn to him the other cheek'. But there is NO PLACE in scripture that says if a man strikes down my brother, i am to stand by and watch and do nothing. Jesus is the LAMB OF GOD but he is also THE LION OF JUDAH. Lou

I just want your readers to know that there are many, many United Methodists who are not anywhere near the religious left. Our denomination has a wonderful variety of people...sometimes that's in our favor, sometimes not! :-)

Enjoyed your article!
"Maybe there will be a spontaneous Ramadan soccer game among all the contending parties in Iraq as during the famous Christmas truce between British and German troops in World War I.”
Oh, sure...and maybe this 'soccer match' will be officiated by the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. C3

Our God and Lord Jesus is a jealous God and said "Thou shalt have no other Gods before me" Ex. 20:3 how does anyone justify compromise?
