My very godly sister forwarded this article to me at a time when I often wish my husband and I could provide much more for our 5 children. Thank you for the reminder that just being there for them is the most important gift we can give and best "return on our investment."

Well written, simple, easy to understand, factual and too the point. A very powerful and necessary "Word from God" for our nations families today, especially those who profess to be "Christians!"

I COMPLETELY agree with this article! I know a lot of PK's (Preacher's Kids) whose parents were conquering the world for Jesus when they were little -- yet, they felt alone, and almost forced to put on an "everything in my life is perfect" performance because their parents never genuinely connected with them. I actually created a couple of television spots about it. They are posted on GodTube.com at. You can see them by typing in: "invest in your kids" in the videos search bar. Keep spreading this word. If we teach the whole world about Jesus, yet let our own children go astray, we will surely have much to regret on our deathbeds.

I totally agree. However, what Bro. Baumann didn't mention was the parents duty as commanded by scripture to raise their children in the nurture & admonition of the Lord. Most pastors do not mention this on fear of causing offense. However consider: That deliberately dumbs down children, Academically among industrialized nations America is nearly dead last. Approximately 40% of graduates are functionally illiterate, and of those who go to college approximately 42% have to take remedial courses. That indoctrinates children into accepting homosexuality as a normal alternative lifestyle. Bob Chase, head of the National Education Association said In April of 2002, “Acceptance of homosexuality should be the goal for educators.” There are now over 3,500 homosexual clubs in schools in all 50 states. That destroys children’s Christian belief. 88 – 96% of children who attend public schools leave the church shortly after graduation. That sexually molests children. A recent study by the U.S. Department Of Education said that 4.5 million students were victims of sexual misconduct by teachers & other school employees in the past decade. That leads to increased illegal drug use by children. A study in Illinois showed that Dare and Quest lead to increased drug use. Since 1965 illegal drug use among youth is up 6,000 percent. That drugs children to make them easier to handle. 6 million children are being given Ritalin or other psychotropic drugs. That places children in physical danger. Nationwide, there were approximately 1,466,000 violent incidents that occurred in public schools in the1999-2000 school year That teaches children there are no absolutes. Values clarification and situational ethics are presented in many various ways. That promotes New Age philosophy. Eastern religions are promoted while Christianity is banned. That indoctrinates children with the philosophy of socialism. Globalism, environmentalism, revisionist history are all used to indoctrinate children to believe in socialism and other collectivist philosophies rather than our American heritage.. That indoctrinates children with the religion of Secular Humanism. That increases children’s sexual behavior. Sex-ed has resulted in a 500% increase in pregnancy to single girls 10 – 15 years old since 1968. I don’t know what you would call such a system, but I would call it EVIL. The system I’m describing, in case you haven’t figured it out, is the public (government) school system. Government schools devastate children morally, spiritually, and intellectually.

Have a 5-1/2 month old daughter at home this article hits me a little differently than it would have before then. My work deals a lot with technology. Smart phones, email, webinar meetings, etc. as I'm sure most do in today's world. Most things are advertised on t.v. as "time savers" and short cuts to this or that. What has me puzzled now is, what do I do with the time that I save? The answer is, more work! I don't take that extra time to invest it where I should, I tend to stay distracted and justify in my own mind as being focused on getting the next thing on my list done. If I'm not careful I go through each day trying to build the number of check marks on my list of things to do. The problem with that list is that prayer, reading and time with family is never on there. It's in the back of my mind that those are the things I'll get to when this other stuff is done. My priorities are way off balance this way. God has been working on me and this article has helped with the Holy Spirit convicting me to get my priorities straight again. Glory be to God, and thank you for the article.

I most certainly agree that family should be the primary investment of our time and resources. It is a shame that so many husbands and wives think that they are doing their families a service by both being in the paid workforce. The additional income is not necessary for any marginal increase in the health and welfare of their children. God meant for parents to take complete responsibility for their children--education included. I believe that the society at large has become weakened because of the ongoing weakening of the family structure. George Cancilla
