I hate to be the one that provides the fly in the ointment, but we have all been bamboozled when it comes to the Constitution. The Constitution is neither Christian or Biblical (just compare the two documents), nor was it the capstone to the Declaration of Independence and the Revolutionary War, as so many have been led to believe. It was a geniously planned counter revolution. The victors, once again, wrote the history books they way they wanted the dumb sheep (particularly Christians) to perceive it. The only evidence that Berman provided for his principle point was a questionable quotation from Madison - even David Barton admits that it cannot be documented from primary source documents. Take a look at the quotes of Madison that are documented and you will see that he believed quite the opposite. The Constitution has become America's national idol and until we repent of our idolatry, there is no reason for us to expect that God is going to fulfill His half of 2 Chronicles 7:14. No, it is not as the Bible goes, so goes the Constitution. It is instead as went the Constitution so went the Bible! It is time to choose between the document that begins "We the people" and the one that begins "In the beginning God." I'm presently preaching a series entitled "Bible Law vs. Constitutionalism." Anyone interested in listening to it, may email me at eweiland@scottsbluff.net. Serving the KING of kings, Ted R. Weiland

Good job David, you and I are barking up the same tree, however I fear it is a hopeless cause. Why? Because America and the western world are too far gone. The result of capitalism is greed and the result of greed is self. There is no cure for self other than to be born again or death and they both come at the end of a rope. America does not realize it is at the end of it's rope and if you read Revelations, most people will never recognize the truth. The truth is that we are pathetically broken and that we and our way of life precariously hangs by a thread. Just look at our energy needs, our monetary system, our personnal and national debt, our morality, our relativism, our schools, our churches, etc, etc, and the conclusion is obvious- the leaves are off the trees and it is darn near winter. Friends, it will be a long cold winter- are true Christians getting prepared, are pastors preaching the truth?

David, Excellent and on target with your message. As an elder in an independent Christian church, I see the "what's in it for me" attitude a bunch. We are battling the liberal habits in our congregation and working to raise more mature Christians to battle it. It takes time, though. Thank you for writing this. God bless you and your family. God seems to have for the last 6 months or so burdened my heart with the downward course of events in America. This article hits the nail on the head. Great job in telling it like it is, avoiding the politically correct dogma of the left. It really is up to God's people to get right with Him so he can heal our land. We do need to change our priorities to God's! Glenn Miller, Medford, OR

The Bible teaches that Christians are to be the best citizens of their respective countries as they can be, as long as it doesn’t require compromise with Jesus Christ. This would include any contribution we could make politically, socially, or otherwise, to better society. There is everything right about standing up for constitutional rights. Yet we Christians must remember that our calling is NOT primarily or fundamentally a political calling. We are NOT called to reform the world. Indeed, we CANNOT. Most of us Christians in the United States today are not being persecuted for being devoted to Jesus Christ; but rather for the things we have come out AGAINST. What we are criticized for is our political agendas, our supposed, "message of hate," and our hypocrisy with money. And much of this criticism, while certainly inflated, is somewhat justified. The message of the New Testament is that our real enemy is NOT political. It is not flesh and blood. The real enemy is not only spiritual, but it is WITHIN. The Body of Christ is in bad shape spiritually, and until the Body of Christ gets it’s own house in order, there will be no real power against these things. That the United States of America was founded on Christian principles, and freedom of religion, is a fact. But the United States is not a theocracy. It is not the second coming of the nation of Israel. I believe God raised up the United States to be His vehicle for freedom of religion, and a place from where the gospel would go forth. But God never intended to use world governments as His primary witness. God is interested in His Body: those called out of the world to Jesus Christ. The Body of Christ is to be the witness of Jesus Christ. If we care about the world, then we need to get our own house in order and become known for our relationship with Christ, instead of becoming known for everything we are against. A living witness for Christ to the world doesn’t focus on changing the world for Christ. It focuses on changing itself so that the world will want to come to the same Christ we claim to serve. A witness unto Jesus Christ doesn’t simply go around demanding that everyone become a Christian, or try to shove Christ down everyone’s throat, or demand political rights to be Christians. A witness for Christ, because of a personal relationship with Christ, becomes someone who is evidence of the risen Christ. But I will be the first one to admit that it is much easier to carry around a banner then it is to carry a Cross. Will we ever learn?

Your right, and not to forget, the Bible tells us the heart is evil, who should know it and it also says, men do not learn from history. doing the same things over and over and expecting a different outcome. Look at all the Impires that fell, ours will too as the Bible tells us Rome will lead in the end and will HE find faith on the earth ? Now we have the gospel throw out and now have the Rick Warren gospel, the other Jesus all lined up under the Catholic cult who say they worship the same god as the Muslims. the bible also tells us that the apostasy we see , unity, other Jesus, new age,and the world in the church, like the days of Noah, and Lot is here..the true church is leaving this old world too and we are counted worthy because of His blood.Hard to believe some well know preacher's are blinded by Satan himself and think they are setting up G-d's Kingdom, but my Bible tells me that His Kingdom is not of this world. Israel is the time peice, and G-d was talking to them till Act's two four..what G-d did once He is doing again. and scripture reveals scripture , not men. The old T is revealing the new T. The new T is concealed in the old, and G-d doesn't change, no shadow of turning. He made us (Hebrew trans.) in His shadow.but some are saying we are little gods. They take scripture out of context and so all they have is pretext. and when one doesn't have the whole truth, all it is is a lie..They have fallen for Satans lies. He gets them in their caring hearts for the poor and needy, and they have thrown out the gospel and the world is in the church along with Mystic occut practices..dont'they realize when they empty the mind to pray, demons come in. even the bible tells us about the man G-d cast out demons and he did not get in the word, so seven more came back with the first one. The power is in HIS gospel an not in unity as we are NOT to learn the ways of the heathen..Gen 12 is forever as Joel 3 and they did not replace Israel. In the book of Daniel..the Hebrew words in context..running to and fro..is where the Jews have their viel rmoved. and Like Isa says..when He stands on the Mt of Olive..he will bring up the dead , give them a new heart, every knee will bow and all Israel will be saved. they will own the OLIVE tree and Jesus is G-d and He is A JEW. HOw odd they love Him and hate the Jew even tho G-d warned not to be aragant.Punish yes, bring home to kill, NO. wake up people, look at Ezekiel 36-38 and see how G-d will destroy ALL the nations lifting the land and not suporting His first love, the Jews..all the preacher will get double punishment. read the word for yourself and ask the HS to teach you. He will as it is written.

David, wow. I truly salute you, my friend... for saying what too many dare not. I have for some time now wondered - what is it finally going to take for us Christians to wake up AND get off our soft and comfortable posteriors? For example, how much more blatant dishonsety do our kids have to put up with in the classrooms, and how many more young lives have to be ruined in the process? My real question is, WHERE are the concerned parents of America... and when do they finally rise up to reclaim our educational system and their children's lives? And why are there not more Cristian teachers and administrators out there? Please forgive me for saying this, but so far I see us mostly oblivious and with our heads in the sand. Generally, I believe that we care... but do we care enough to sacrifice for them? As Christian parents, God gave us a truly noble task - to raise Godly children. But if we do not lead by example, why should we expect them or anyone else to follow? I seriously believe that a day of reconing is near. But that gaping question still remains... which side wins? In Him, scott.

You said "Is there any wonder as to why we have fallen so far? Prayer has been removed from schools. The Bible has been removed from schools.>> The problem isn't that prayer and the Bible were removed from schools. This was predicted by Rev. Robert Lewis Dabney back when state schools were first spreading through the South after the Civil War. The problem is the formation of state schools. The Bible gives the responsibility of educating children to parents. This responsibility does not belong to the state nor to the church. When parents homeschool, at least 90% of the time the values of the parent are passed to the children. In public school, this happens only 12% of the time. Rev. Donald R. Holmes
