Thank you again Pastor Bob for this article. It is amazing to me that such writings that are needed, convicting, and important to our walk and ministry in the times in which we live are getting so few responses. I still cannot understand why so many church pastors can fall into the Purpose Driven and Emergent movements that completely turn the Gospel upside down in order to grow the church...when the Word of God clearly shows these models and their leaders' beliefs to be unbiblical. I am not in church leadership, but your book "Redefining Christianity: Understanding the Purpose Driven Movement" and your blogs have really challenged me to examine my heart and my passion for God's Word, as well as call me to KNOW the Word and to challenge everything I hear in church or from Christian authors and believers against the clear Word of God. It is so important that we KNOW the Word and use it so that we will not be deceived by many, many Christian leaders that tell us the kind of things our itching ears want to hear, instead of the full Gospel message of Christ, sin, repentance, and following Him. Thank you for opening my eyes to the state of the church and to how important it is for churches to preach the full cousel of God and the Word, to build their flock in maturity in Christ. I have given your book to a few pastors and pray that they read and heed it. Thank you for your faithfulness to this task God is calling you to. It will forever change my perspective and spur me on to warn others about the form of lukewarm, comfortable, social club Christianity being perpetuated in our churches. May God bless your ministry for His eternal glory!

Thank you so much for writing this. It clarifies things considerably. If I'd have known this as a young person, I'd have been averted from foolish church decisions. It is the determination of this stance within a congregation that is the key to determining a true church home, and not whether those in attendance are hip and with-it persons.

Yes, the apostasy is here..the other Jesus is preached that Paul warned us of for the last days. the two days is up (a thousand yrs like a day to the L-rd ) and yes we know today is the day of Salvation, and He tells us , choose who you will serve. He doesn't chase anyone and we know only the HS will draw us. Our decision. and Yes, we are to go into all the world and preach the gospel to the Jew first. and how can they go if we don't send them !! How anyone can not reach out to the ONE who died for them, and take a free gift of such love and eternal life I will never know. We don't earn it just receive it. The very least we can do. We are all sinners saved by His grace. He is our councelor, prince of peace and the everlasting Father..Praise Him, and thank you for a wonderful word, that we don't hear too much these days...We are not to love the world or the things in the world, and not to learn the ways of the heathen. money or HIm. I would not trade my soul for this old world or the god (satan) who runs it. He is coming very soon, as the 2000 yrs is all but up and Israel is His time piece...receive HIM today..what a wonderful L-rd but He is coming in Justice..the LION of the Tribe of Judea..NOT NYC...

"By believing in God’s sovereignty, we have full assurance that if we preach the gospel faithfully and accurately, God will always use it to save all who will be saved." It seems to me that the statement above denies the sovereignty of God by saying "if we preach" as if that is an open decision of man and the weak God is waiting our decision regarding this necessary step in the salvation process. What happens "if we don't"? Is the plan of God thwarted by our decision? Are those who would be saved, not saved by that decision? Or is there in fact no decision to be made? Just thinking...

Your analysis is correct -- God's will will not be thwarted by our disobedient failure to preach the Gospel to one whom He desires to save -- He will save Him by some other means of His choosing. However, WE might not be saved, because we are not proclaiming the Good News of Salvation.

Great questions Tx 49. I'm sure Bob won't mind me pointing you to his other article entitled "Means of Grace" at http://cicministry.org/commentary/issue84.htm You see, God is sovereign in salvation, AND He has appointed means by which He saves. One of those means is the preaching of the Gospel. It is not a contradiction that we must preach the Gospel AND God is sovereign, because our sovereign God has appointed this means by which people come to faith (see Rom 10:17).
