I am in agreement with nearly everything written Brannon Howse, with an additional note that Paul's Holy Spirit breathed words in Romans 13:1-7, teach not only that government exists to reward good and punish evil, but literally (vs. 4), "government is God's servant to you for good... government is God's servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong". More to the point, God wants government to do good to the people they serve and bring God's wrath on those who do wrong. Both "good" and "wrong" are defined by God's character and rules for living found in His word, not just by governments. God is above the State and His word is above the Constitution.

Richard Wurmbrand, Romanian pastor, 1944 "Once the Communists came to power, they skillfully used the means of seduction toward the Church. The communists convened a congress of all Christian bodies in our Parliament building. 4,000 priests and pastors chose Joseph Stalin, a mass murderer, as honorary president of congress. One after another, pastors arose and assured the gov't of the loyalty of the Church. My wife, Sabina, said "Richard, stand up and wash away this shame from the face of Christ! They are spitting in His face." I said, "IF I do, you lose a husband." She replied, "I don't wish to have a coward for a husband." I arose and said our loyalty is due first to Christ. Afterward I had to pay for this (14 years of torture in prison), but it was worthwhile. Tortured for Christ, p. 15, 16 www.persecution.com The Voice of the Martyrs

Very good article, and I agree. Laws should always be view through a biblical lens, and if they go against scriptural ideology and YHWH's laws, which are the ultimate standard by which all laws should be measured, then both Jew and follower of Yahushua, should seek to get these laws/regulations thrown out, and are not liable to follow them. Case in point, if at some time in the near future, it becomes illegal to proclaim Yahushua as your savior or to read the Bible, would the Father expect you to follow that law? Of if the President of the United States ordered a follower of Yahushua to disavow our belief in Yahushua and/or to become Muslims (or Secular Humanist), did Paul mean to say in Romans 13, that we should obey? Of course not. That is why back when Moses was choosing judges, he was told to choose only those with strong beliefs in the Father, and who walked in righteousness. Our country is a wonderful example of what happens when ungodly men are put into power, while those who profess to follow Yahushua sit idly by and whine and complain about the results which are ungodly laws and regulations being put into place. One can't take an alligator and expect him to act any other way, than like an alligator! Folks running for office, should be examined and re-examined for their morality, righteousness and past record, then elected according to their abilities to do the job at hand as well as their fruit - you will know them by their fruit. If someone says whatever they need to say to appeal to the voters, and contradict themselves according to the voting block they are talking to, they shouldn't be voted into office. If there are no righteous men to vote for, then vote against all those running! We need leaders who first seek the Kingdom of YHWH, then are patriots, for the whole country, state or community ends up reaping the benefit or curse of having righteous or ungodly men in power respectively. Remember in the Old Testament, when evil kings ruled the Jews, YHWH would bring up strong enemies against them... the same is happening to the U.S. and the rest of the world! Are we to to be taken into captivity because of our falling away from our Father's wise and loving ways, just as Israel and Judah in 720 B.C. and 586 B.C. respectively. The answer... YES!

My name is Steve Rothrock and I list my name to be "counted" among the names approving fully of this article. I have been nudging my pastor to wake up and view the nation we are losing. I am a layman but I believe leaders like Brannon Howse are making a courageous stand to oppose our government's actions. I commend the structure of this article which provides just enough history to make his point. My only request would be for your ministry to point it's sights at the clergy. Thank you and I for one will pray for an awakening of our nation.

Amazing what you discover when you read a whole passage in the Word, not just what you choose to see and believe :) It pains me to hear how Christians don't want their children entering politics. We need Godly men and woman in high ranking government positions to "do the will of God" for the people, and to help remove those who are not doing God's will. Thank you for speaking boldly on our responsibilty to the Government as Christians...it's been a long time coming. I've felt this way for years.

"...shall grievous wolves enter among you, not sparing the flock...also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them." Two thousand year old words from Acts 20: 29-30 and so true today. Thanks to the Shreveport LA CBS affiliate we can plainly see and hear what FEMA & DHS, with the cooperation of spineless so-called pastors have been up to. This story has been around since March 2006 when I attended this training and sent the training materials to several folks to warn them. Glad to hear & see it for all the world to see.

Thank you for your well written article which I agree with. I know there will be Christians that will fuss about this. For those disagreeing Christians, I would like to remind them of the pastors and Christians who blindly supported Hitler and the resulting consequence of mass murder.

It is refreshing to see a biblical and correct view of this issue. Thanks Lou

Great article, Brannon. You obviously stayed up all night with this article. Very good research, history, and appropriate examples. I only wish that we still had a Patrick Henry in our Congress to heep those scourdrels honest and faithful to the Scriptures and the Constitution. It will be a cold day in Hades before I will submit to the tyranny of the fairness doctrine, and I will surely tell my Senators and Rep. that fact. And may GOD Bless your efforts toward the scuttlement of any and all Congressional activity in this regard.

The heading can be answered in one word, ingorance. And backed by one short quote"my sheep die for the lack of a proper shepard. why no proper shepards, people do not seek God today they seek a religion that justifies their actions, so they choose and seminarys teach what the people want. Not what God taught through the gospel.
