Has it occurred to you that abandonment of the King James Bible is part of the problem?

Then again, maybe not - here's Matthew 3:2: (KJV-1611) And saying, Repent yee: for the kingdome of heauen is at hand. (ALT) and saying, "Be repenting, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near!" (Darby) and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn nigh. (BBE) Saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin; for the kingdom of heaven is near. (EMTV) and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" (ESV) "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (GNB) "Turn away from your sins," he said, "because the Kingdom of heaven is near!" (ISV) and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near!" (LITV) and saying, Repent! For the kingdom of Heaven has drawn near. (MKJV) and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand. (NASB) "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Webster) And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

I truly enjoyed this column. Over the years I have participated in many Bible studies and discussed repentance many times. I finally came to the knowledge that what Paul calls "Godly repentance" is another way of looking at full trust in the Lord Jesus. And I have shared many times that repentance and faith are two sides of the same coin, if you will. I agree that the worship of self is the last idol to overcome. We live in a sound bite generation where we want instant gratification of desires, and are not willing to face any kind of struggle or accept any delay to our satisfaction. Who among us could be a Jonah and tell his shipmates to throw us into the ocean and save the rest of the ship? Only one who has an intimate relationship with the Lord, I suspect. And how about Moses who prayed for God to destroy him as well if God should bring His wrath against the rebellious tribes of Israel? God knows the hearts of His true servants. Anyway, sorry to be so lengthy in saying that I agree with the demise of Gospel Preaching in today's pulpits. Thanks for speaking the gospel truth!!! StanMan

I found your arguements quite refreshing and on target. I found them odd also, for as many times in the past I have read others who eluded to the very same idea. We call todays religion touchy feelie, or feel good. As long as one feels good and say they know Jesus they are fine. I hope you will point out in the next writing that Satin knows who Jesus is and if all that is required is that then he to is saved. I always taught that repentance meant and means turning from your sin for if one truly does believe and recives one changes at that time.
