I wholeheartedly agree! Thank you for what you are doing: speaking the truth in love with a sense of urgency. I urge everyone to fast and pray unceasingly (literally) for the wholesale humbling of the true church, for America to turn from its evil ways, and that many souls would be turned to righteousness. Let us not say, yet another four months and then the harvest. For as our Lord said, the fields are ripe and ready for harvest. Seek Him while he may be found. Worship Him in spirit and in TRUTH. Let His praises be continually on our lips. Study the scriptures while you are still able to; then rise up and do what God is calling you to do. Perhaps the Lord will have mercy yet on our nation and preserve our freedom if we only seek His face and and His will. I do not know how much longer the Lord will abide the abject rebellion within the many hearts of those who naming the name of Christ, but whose hearts are far from Him. I speak not to condemn, but as one who considers herself chief among sinners, saved only by Jesus' graciousness and mercy. Taste, and see that the Lord is good and that His mercies, which are new every morning in my own life, endure forever and ever.

As a regular reader of Worldview material in Australia, I would like to say how heartening it is to read such balanced teaching as in this current article. As a pastor who has long taught the importance of sound doctrine it is encouraging to read this material. Many people here in our community are just not interested in biblical doctrine. I have actually heard this kind of teaching ridiculed as out of date and no longer relevant, however the Lord has a different point of view and there is great strength and safety in being well versed in sound doctrine. The many fanciful ideas that are flooding the church won't sustain people in the day of testing and trouble or bring them home safely to Jesus. Keep up the excellent work. David

Very good article and true, Btannon. You have cut right to the core of the problem with today's churches and teachers. They seem to be afraid to teach the gospel truths and instead seem to find another perhaps simpler way of entertaining their followers. But the truths which a serious student of the Bible finds in scripture goes a long way in preparing him for discernment when listening to a false or erroraneous statement for the teacher.
Keep up the good work and let us hear more from your fount of knowledge and truth.

Thank you for a well thought-out article on the subject of doctrine. People keep telling me that they don't think we ought to be teaching doctrine, because it can put people off. My response is that doctrine is where we learn the truth. To be established in the faith requires good doctrine. I'm glad to know that there are people out there who not just making feel-good sounds, but are emphasizing the necessity of knowing what the Word says about many things.

And while we are at it, some people are put off by being taught law. Like when young people are taught the rules and laws of driving.
Yes, it probably puts them off too. So, lets quit teaching driving with all the rules and laws.
Just give the teens car keys and let them figure it out.
How foolish to think that we can spurn God's Word. There is no fear of the Lord anymore.
Or one would WANT to know how NOT to offend Him. And learning doctrine, like learning our laws, keeps us on the straight and narrow. Click here to reply to this post
