If this church is wanting to meet needs, it is missing one group of people...abused men. This church does have a large ministry for abused women but when I wrote to them as the director of Shattered Men to educate them that as many men are abused as women, they stated that only one or two men a year approach them. Of course not, their ministry is only advertised to women and I do know that more men have gone to them for help. One even suggested that he could help them set up a program for men but he was threatened with being arrested if he came on any church property again. I guess abused men are disposable to this church.

Steve, I have also attended the Willow leadership summit - in fact the one where Bill Clinton was interviewed by BH. Interesting.
I agree with questionable ecclesiology, especially where it comes to leadership. But I can tell you that my life was changed at that conference during a strong service encouraging total surrender to God and his work in my life. I have also attended the mid week services and found them to be extremely challenging to my faith, gospel centered, and edifying. The key clarification in explaining Willow's strategy is that the Sunday morning and Saturday evening services are seeker targeted while the week day services are church targeted.

Dear Steve; why are you so angry... and why so critical? And what is wrong with being able to come to a place where you can investigate Christianity without people swooping down on you and where you can feel safe enough to ask the really tough questions of your heart? And what is wrong with any church leader that actually goes through the trouble of finding out what is on the hearts of his flock? And what is wrong with any church that does outreach and tries to meet non-believers and the non-churched where they are at, but still teaches the full Bible and then asks of them a much higher standard of conduct, service and participation once they are ready to become full members? I'm so truly sorry, my friend... but I believe that you somehow either got the wrong impression or were told something different. And my most sincere prayer is that you will be able to find out everything to you to your full and complete satisfaction. In Him, scott.

I agree with Mr. Cornell. I have been a Christian for a long time and lately I've felt desperate for a church that offered anything for 'growing or fully devoted' followers. I understand the seeker approach but churches have swung too far in that direction now. I'm tired of being on my own and tired of shallow teaching, worship, etc. I need some meat, not milk.
