Excellent essay. I interpret the efforts to "shut people up" you observed as part of the post-modern belief that the members of a particular community govern (by both force and consensus) the moral choices its members are allowed to make (rough quote from "What is Postmodernism" by David Nobel).

People want to shut the truth up because it causes conviction. What people don't realize is that they will know the truth and the truth will set them free. Christians who want to be "nice" and not speak the truth don't want to face the hostilities that may incur. Which in short is cowardly. Compromising is the same as apostasy. I pray for my brethren that are blind to this. And that the light of truth will shine on them and they will truly be dedicated to God and not man's opinion.

The godless left claims to be the "Real christians because they tell perverts what their itching ears want to hear and call it "Grace". They throw other peoples money at the poor and comfort them in thier sin so at best, they send people to Hell well clothed and well fed. The Left spits on us and hates us?

Does anyone who is saved wish to have those who are in open rebellion against God speak well of them?
Lk 6:26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.
However, the "Religious Right" is no more rightious than their counterparts on the left. First, The Lord commands:
Dt 5:32 So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; m do not turn aside to the right or to the left. n
When the right pushes the passing of laws to regulate the conduct of unbelievers, it lost a lot of credibility. Siging on to Bushes gospel of bombs & bullets further eroded the credibility of the right.
The right went wrong and no longer has any credibility left.

Great post, Donald.
I am going through the same thing in my state convention. Be nice to the "left leaning Christians", but slam the Christians who are trying to help and warn about false teachings coming into the church.
We are bending over backwards here to make sure that false teachers and those that follow them are not made to feel uncomfortable. We are told not to be divisive and that it's not that bad that their beliefs aren't Biblical. I feel many days that I am in the Twilight Zone.
