The writer of this article should be commended as it reflects the views of myself and what I believe to be the majority of the American Public. Let's get this country back to the God fearing country we started out as and deport all illegals as fast as we can round them up!

While Janet brings up some valid points, what is missing is what is missing from most conservative commentary on immigration policy: What is the alternative? More specifically what is a Christian, biblical policy on immigration and dealing with illegal immigrants? I have yet to see one.
Yes we want a policy that is just. One that enforces the law and fulfills the biblical idea that a government is to protect the people from lawbreakers. But what would a biblical worldview be without also including grace and mercy? What bothers me most about much of the conservative commentary on this issue is it reeks of xenophobia. There seems to be a great fear that the illegal immigrants will corrupt our American way of life. Hasn’t our American way of life already been greatly corrupted, not from immigrants but decay internal in our society? Yes there are many crimes committed by illegals, yet I dare say that there are many illegal immigrants who have higher morals than many citizens in our society. Yes they committed a crime by coming here illegally, but can we not distinguish between one who breaks the law in seeking a better life for his family and one who breaks the law to commit a terrorist act against the United States? Even in Proverbs it says that men do not despise a thief when he steals to satisfy his soul when he is hungry. Given the many Old Testament warnings about not oppressing foreigners in the land, I think if we are going to have biblical worldview, we better mix some compassion with justice.
So let’s not just criticize the President’s policy, but let’s have a creative, biblical alternative. What are your ideas for dealing with illegal immigrants and their thousands of children who are U.S. citizens?

Well, Janet, it seems like your country is safe from destruction, at least for another one or two years. Bush's immigration bill has been defeated again. I'm sure you are celebrating, and when you go to church on Sunday you will thank God that these lazy, and no good for nothing Mexicans did not get it their way. But, maybe when you start paying $10.00 for a head of lettuce or can't find a cheap maid to pick up your dirty laundry, you mind change your mind.

Vote for Kucinich and you won't have these problems. Instead you'll have a compassionate, peace-promoting man in office who has a sensible plan regarding immigration. Though he is a self-professed religious man, I know that many of you will strongly disagree with his views, political or spiritual. However, read his positions on the issues, search your heart, and ask yourselves - is he not a candidate that truly takes the "do unto others as you would have done to you" message to heart?

Thank you for saying what I wanted to say and saying it in perfect form! Mr. Bush has the appearance of Christianity without the substance and I am still praying for him as our leader because we are commanded to pray for those in authority. So, I will pray he puts his money where his mouth is, and his actions where he SAYS his faith is.

Why dont we stop saying that President Bush is a saved Christian, when its easy to see he has RELIGION, he just doesnt possess the LORD.
HE may be a professor but is NOT a possessor.
His discernment on things of the word, is total lacking.
YET so many are ready to stamp George Bush Jr. as saved.
WHY is that simply because ( HE ) calls himself a CHRISTIAN?????

I don't understand this decision, either, but I believe that most of his other decisions show where his faith lies. Click here to reply to this post

Janet, Please consider getting a real job instead of living off the weak-minded. I have heard all this stuff before. Did you ever pick cotton?

I voted for GW both elections, but somehow I think he missed the boat on immigration laws; or rather, invited everyone in; and I for one really don't feel like taking care of them and their entire family! We have enough mouths to feed on Welfare as it is! Not exactly sure that you and I read the same article. As for me...I DO NOT want to see Amexicana...I too would like to see The United States of America again! God Bless America, the land that I love! Click here to reply to this post

I voted for GW both times, but I also had reservations the second time. I've been saying for years that we are manipulated...if the mood is liberal we get men like "Socialist Clinton"," communist appeaser Carter". If it's conservative we get a George senior or GW type. Especially now the "Moderates". Either way we're going down the same road and it leads to the "New World Order". This is not any new thing, but has been in the making as long as this country has been in existence and earlier! The Apostate church now illuminates the hour we're in. Even the bibles are corrupted by New Age publishers pumping out their beliefs packaged in Christian buzz words, leaving out whole verses so the unlearned can never find the truth (NIV-NASB) etc. I'm beginning to think that "it's all over but the shouting" "Come Up" to the true bride, but time will tell if God is finished or if we still are to fight the good fight. One thing is certain, if we fail to stop this illegal immigration bill we are finished. They will destroy our Constitution and break the bank to bring in the New World Order. I am also voting for Tom Tancredo and support him financially, but he needs $'s to get up front. The media will NEVER give him a voice. He'll need to buy air time and PRAYERS, especially prayers.

I agree. I was thinking that it's so easy for the political elite (like protected ex-Presidents and their families) and the wealthy to be guarded with weapons toting aides. On their estates in the desert or in gated suburbs, they're even safer. If politicians, especially, want to make us vulnerable to foreign criminals and gang elements, they and their extended families should be subjected to the same fate.

WOW, Janet--right on!! I couldn't have said it better myself! It seems that if this scourge on our land happens, things will really spiral out of control--socially, financially, politcally, and especially spiritually! I pray that Tom Tancredo gets nominated so i can vote for him. I know for a fact that he will pardon Ramos and Compeon right away after he takes office. It is too bad that our government is so full of a morally corrupt Congress and office-holders that aren't realizing that we may be "doomed to repeat" the mistakes we have witnessed in the past!!
We must pray that Tancredo gets in--I urge all the readers of Janet's article to support him--he has more common sense and is a Christian. Let's do it and may God bless America!! S. Nugent Wichita, KS
