Phyllis Schlafly's article about the prosecution and detention of our two Border Patrol agents was right on target. In gerneral I have supported President Bush and his administration, however due to his attitude concerning illegals coming over border and then not supporting those who try to protect our borders is deplorable. Due to this fact I have stopped supporting President Bush or the Republican party. The Democrats also are guilty of the same attitude. This attitude has existed for many years in the past putting this country, like an uncontrolled cancer, in mortal danger. Can the patient long survive if this continues?

I whole-heartedly agree with Mrs. Schlafly's letter. The trial and conviction of the two border agents was a gross miscarriage of justice, and it is appalling that President Bush has not already pardoned them. I am VERY disappointed in President Bush because of this and because of his calls for amnesty for the illegal aliens in our country.

I also agree fully with the article. I believe there is a large outside force that is compelling US Attorney Sutton to make decisions that defy logic, either drug lords or the mexican government or both. When people make decisions that are way off base it is usually from sex or drugs. Maybe the human trafficers are sending fresh girls to Sutton. Maybe Sutton has a drug problem that is upplied by the outlaws he provides favors for. Sutton has made decisions that favors these assumptions. Sutton should be fired and tried for treason. He has betrayed the American People.

I totally agree. Unfortunately, Bush has turned out to be like most other politicians by not representing the people he governs. They have a mindset of a king or ruler and don't let the people know their own agenda for our country. Bush does have an agenda to unite the USA with Mexico. It becomes clearer every day. You are right though, at least let the border patrol know that they shouldn't do anything to stop drug and people-smugglers. Why even have border patrol? Even more importantly, what can citizens do when they disagree with a politician's agenda?

I so agree with every word of this open letter to President Bush. I supported and voted for Bush but this just absolutely boggles my mind the way he is handling our open borders and prosecuting innocent guards. If Bush should be impeached for anything it should be for the way he has not secured our borders and allowed all the illegals rights that only citizens should have. I hope and pray he will personally read this open letter and that prayers will open his blinded eyes.

I live in a border state, and I see the painful and costly impact of the illegal aliens (I refuse to call them 'Undocumented Workers'!!!!) in our state. Our schools are now ranking #50 out of 50 states, which I believe is a result of having to provide so much funding to cater to non English speaking children. It is not 'No child shall be left behind' but 'No child shall move ahead'!!! What is Bush's allegiance to Mexico? I voted for him, and I can't believe our wide open borders which he is doing NOTHING about!!!! What is the point of this war on terror if we can't protect our borders?!!!!!!

I also voted for Mr. Bush- two times. As a Christian, a minister, and a Republican party precinct committeeman in the largest Republican district in Arizona, my perspective was that Bush, given the character and views of his presidential opponents, was the better elective alternative. After all, didn't Mr. Bush claim to be a born-again Christian? Lately, however, his actions have puzzled me, especially in respect to his apparent support for the North American Union with Mexico, and his apparent indifference to the significance that these border patrol cases will undoubtedly exert in sending the wrong message to the Mexican government and to the Mexican criminal element that will benefit from Bush's lax border policy. Having lived in Mexico as a Christian missionary for a conservative protestant denomination, and having married a Mexican national, I can tell you that Mexico is, without question, a narco-state largely run by politicians controlled by various drug interests. Opening the borders to such dangerous elements within Mexico is the last thing America needs if it wishes to return to it Christian roots. Now I'm wondering if his problem with this issue isn't that he's asleep, and therefore unconsious, unresponsible, and unaware of what he's doing. I'm beginning to think that Mr. Bush may be very much politically awake. I suspect that he may be quite aware of his actions. I'm thinking that he may be prosecuting a very purposful, deliberate border strategy. I'm suspecting that a more rational explination for his recent actions regarding open borders with Mexico is that he's got his eye on a far different reality than you and I can see as conservative, born-again Christians, regarding the future of America and Mexico. Do I think that Mr. Bush's actions really reveal that he's asleep at the helm of state? Do I really believe that he's unaware of the blatant, ongoing miscarriages of justice perpetrated against our border patrol agents? Instead of being in a perpetual, political coma regarding border issues with Mexico, could it be that Mr. Bush is very much awake, and very much aware, of the consequences of his border patrol policy? Isn't it more likely that his actions are, in fact, deliberate and purposeful? Isn't it possible that these seemingly "crazy" judicial decisions that make no sense to me as a conservative Christian are, in reality, part of a larger strategy-- to facilitate an "open borders" policy with Mexico? I'm not suggesting that Mr. Bush's goal is to increase the flow of illegal drugs from Mexico into the United States. But if his goal isn't drugs, then what, exactly, is his goal? Christians should realize that paving the way for a North American Union with Mexico will inevitably open the flood gates of an ever-growing problem with illegal Mexican immigration, an ever-worsening American economy as the American middle class continues to shrink due to the tidal wave of cheap labor from Mexico that is drowning the American economy, and the ever-growing cancer of Mexican drug cartel criminality that can do nothing but worsen over time, and may well assume catastrophic biblical proportions if Americans doesn't wake up to the mortal dangers an open borders policy pose to us, our children, and our future as a Christian nation.

You are absolutely correct in your response to this post. I likewise supported Bush but the handling of this case is an absolute travesty and should never have happened. I am also outraged at this administration's entire attitude toward the illegal alien situation in this country. Spin it any way you want to but the final analysis is that it is amnesty pure and simple. Why don't we just turn the southwest part of our country over to these people since that is their ultimate goal anyway?

It is totally disgusting that someone can break our laws to get into the country and then be given rights that citizens are often denied. My son was a marine and risked his life to defend his country in the first gulf war. His time was up but they called him back and added to his time. He lost his car while in Iraq because of making less money (he was in the reserves). He came back and got a tumor on his back in short time after his return. He was sick for years but the VA would not help him. He thinks he was exposed to something over there and I agree but the government does not care about our boys who served our country by risking their lives. When he tried to get a loan which he was qualified for because of his service( he wanted to start a business) he was told there was NO RECORD OF HIS EVER BEING A MARINE. I have one more son who has just graduated high school and I will physically restrain him before I would see him serve in this nations armed forces. I have a son in law who is a Captain in the US Navy. My son served with honor as a sergeant in the Marines. But I would rather pick up a gun in a armed rebellion than serve this nations government in any way. I am mad as hell about the things going on in our government and will not take it much longer. If Nancy P., H. Clinton, and B. Oboma think that my anger against the present administration makes me so stupid as to not know that they would be 10 times worse they are sadly mistaken. I never thought that I would consider joining a militia but I find the thought looking mighty appealing right at this time. There was a revolution to start this country and maybe that is the only way the government will listen to the people again.

Like father, like son. Both, in the name of kindness and gentleness, find ways to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. Have we been betrayed, or did we overestimate our president and believe that he wanted to and desired to protect us and our borders.

Drug money can buy a lot of things, and turn a lot of heads, should we think it could not buy a president?
