"Removing the cookie-cutter example set forth in the Bible is not the answer; returning to it is. One of the most common questions on the minds of many today is why would we want Christ when we dont want the Christ that we see in others?
it is not the cookie cutter example set forth in the Bible that people reject- it is the cookie cutter image that the church has created- it's just as bad as the pharisaical laws of Jesus times- we have built up religion around what Jesus has called us too. I agree that followers of Christ will look radically different than the world. but they will also look even more radically different than the conservative church, especially in america.

I agree with this article, but I have one caveat. A lot of misguided Christians see Bob Jones University and its horrible opposition to interracial marriage as an example of Christians being "not like the world." Almost nothing could be farther from the truth! When BJU established that policy, they were copying a WORLDLY false teaching! Just because BJU held on to a secular-worldly, racist-bigoted, and stupid philosophy long after most of the secular world gave it up would NOT make BJU minions "least like the world" as Christians.

Amen. If a "clean animal" is one who's walk is directed by "ruminating" on the word of God,
And if a dog is one who returns to his vomit, always repenting but never coming to repentance, then a pig is one who enjoys and wallows in his sin. The church should never put out slop to attract pigs. Ro 8:7 ...the carnal mind is enmity against God...
Go out and seek the lost. Coerce, command and compel them to repent. But never try to "attract" them to Christ or win them by osmosis.
