Thank you for shining the light of truth on Campolo, Wallis, Siders and The Emerging Church influence in the evangelical world today. Many of these leaders have a very compelling, biblically-based message of caring for the hurting and poor but are foolishly aligning themselves with a pseudo savior. To be a follower of Christ, we must be made new in our thinking and attitudes and have discernment not to follow blindly the latest seductive trends.
The problem is that there is an element of truth in falsehood. Satan utilized half-truths in his pitch to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and misused Scripture in his temptation of Christ in the wilderness. Judas feigned concern for the poor in his criticism of Marys lavish gift to Jesus.
God forbid that we turn our backs on brothers and sisters in need and become careless stewards of the creation. However, many enlightened evangelicals, who are ashamed of their more conservative roots, are enamored with the mirage of liberal/socialist ideology as a preferred means of doing justice and solving societal ills. In the process, they have relinquished their personal responsibility to be their brothers keeper, joined the wrong side of the culture war and are now shooting at their own.
