The items on the "facts" list should read "Mormons BELIEVE that...". For example, it is not a fact that "Mormons can become gods and goddesses." The FACT is, "Mormons believe (incorrectly, I might add) that they become gods and goddesses." Let's not call lies facts.

| Posted On: 04/19/07 12:04:45 PM | | Age 38, AZ | Mormons have never taught that Heavenly Father had sex with Mary. That is really a sic philosophy to discredit Mormon doctrine, along with the other ridiculous statements. Women are not going to be in submission to their husbands though eternity anymore than we are here. We are equal partners, but just with any well run business, club, political party, etc. someone has to be at the head. Women don't need the priesthood like men do. We're naturally more spiritual, and besides, it's redundant to have both partners hold the priesthood. Heavenly Father answers our prayers, He takes special care of his special daughters. I don't know if spirit children are created or if we give birth. But since there is no pain after death, I'm not worried. Having a family makes life wonerful! 10 facts about christianity
10. They regularly engage in the ritualistic cannibalization of God.
9. Women must not have braided hair.
8. The world will end any day now, with massive death and chaos immediately preceding this.
7. Christians are to avoid contact with those who think differently.
6. The world is mans to abuse, there's no worry about using it up because the preplanned end of the world will come before then
5. The claim a forgiving God, yet have an unforgivable act in the bible
4. They believe good and bad were established by an ancient battle over power between a singer and God.
3. It took them 500 years to agree on what a soul is, what Jesus actually did, and how hell works. Certainly they can't be keeping the original intention of Jesus?
2. They believe a zombie made the people of the world innocent
1. More blood has been shed in the name of christianity than any other cause in history
It's not hard to take a religion and make it look completely ridiculous, and much better reasons than these can be found to discredit christianity. Make no mistake though, the point of this list is to contrast the article, not to attack christians. Before you attack another's again, try to understand them or see things through their point of view.

| Posted On: 03/04/07 12:15:41 AM | | Age 36, TX | I applaud your attempt at satire in response to the article. I noticed that, unlike the author of the original article, you have not documented the sources of your claims in support of your arguments. Aside from that, they seem to be almost entirely inaccurate.
If I may take your points in order:
10. Yeshua (Jesus) told his disciples (all Jewish men) to take and eat of the bread as a symbol of partaking in a peace offering that inaugurated His priesthood just as there was a peace offering that inaugurated the priesthood of Aaron and his sons (see Exodus 29). They werent eating human flesh symbolically (eww NOT kosher!) they were eating ram flesh symbolically. Yeshua was drawing an analogy between Himself and the ram offered up as a peace offering between man and God. 9. If a womans hair-do and attire blinds people around her to the her inner beauty of faith and humility then she is permitted to spend less time "putting on her face" including braiding her hair. 8. ??? What??? The earth will endure forever (see Psalm 78:69, Ecclesiastes 1:4, and others). The world as we know it (i.e. filled with violence, disobedience, death, and destruction) will cease to function in that manner as the new heaven and new earth (Rev 21:1) which are marked by obedience and honor to God (Isaiah 45:23) and no more death, mourning, or crying (Rev 21:4) begins to operate as God intended from the beginning. There is ALREADY massive death and chaos occurring. 7. Im at a loss as to where this one came from. The Bible I read says that we should go forth and make disciples (not converts!) of all nations. Surely that must include some folks that dont agree with us already. 6. ??? What??? (again) Since this world IS NOT going to be destroyed (see #8 above) it is ours to repair and restore in preparation for the return of Messiah. We are charged with tikkun olam (Hebrew for "repairing the world") just as Yeshua did. He restored sight to the blind and mobility to the crippled. Do a word search on "restore" in the NASB lots of Scripture! 5. God IS forgiving. The one "unforgivable act" is to fail to accept the forgiveness offered to us. If God offers each of us a billion dollars and then we dont accept it we cannot say He never offered and that He is not generous. 4. I am completely lost on this one. By creating humanity with the ability to choose, God inherently created the option for good and for evil. He never performed evil but He did create the option for it otherwise we would all be robots. 3. It took one specific group of "them" about 300 years to agree on what to write in their particular books. There have been folks from day 1 after the resurrection that knew what a soul is, what Yeshua actually did, and how hell works. 2. I dont know about you but the all zombies I am aware of tend to make the world seem very fuzzy and innocent (zombie = a tall mixed drink made of various rums, liqueur, and fruit juice). 1. I hear this statement often but have seen zero documentation to back up the claim. I might accept the claim "more blood has been shed in the misappropriated name of Christianity than any other cause in history" but would still have no documentation to back it up.

Jill Rische is on target. The Christian church in America is asleep, or as Christ said, they have let the oil run out in their lamps. We are in a perilous situation because of our ignorance. I hope this article will challenge others to search for themselves.

People have said, "no one can embrace this cult and Jesus Christ at the same time." I'm curious to see what you believe saves us! I am not Mormon, but have debated Mormon for several years, long enough to have an idea what they believe. What they believe is false. Allow me to lay that truth out before continuing with what I am about to say: much of their doctrine is FALSE. That said, much of what most Christians believe is not completely true, either. So then, does our doctrine get us into Heaven? No way! If our doctrine got us into Heaven, grace would not be by faith, but through works, which we know cannot be the case (Eph. 2:8-9). So what gets us into Heaven? Our faith in Jesus Christ. It is our faith that Jesus died for us and was raised for us. This is all it takes to get into Heaven. Anyone who says that it is necessary to be baptized, believe in the Trinity, or side with a certain denomination to get into Heaven is misled and is not preaching biblical truth. Is the Trinity true? Probably. Was Jesus born of a virgin? Probably (there's debate as to whether the word translated "virgin" instead means "young woman," if I recall correctly). These are good things to believe. Are they necessary to believe? Will we go to Hell for eternity for our doctrine? Absolutely not. So we can reach conclusion number one: although Mormons have bad (some of it is REALLY bad) doctrine, that does not necessitate Hell for them. So, the question most people will follow that up with is, "Do they believe in the same Jesus Christ as Christians do? I've heard they believe Satan is Jesus' brother, that Jesus and Michael the Archangel and Adam were all the same person, and many more things about the person of Jesus I don't believe. Doesn't that make their Jesus different than ours?" Well, let's use Jesus' own words to make the distinction. Matthew 25:31-40 shows us how we show our belief in Jesus: "31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' 37 Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' 40 The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'" What we do for the least of these, we do for Jesus! The Jesus we believe in is the one that will make people do this kind of thing. If the Mormons believe in this Jesus (I think some do), they are Christian just as we are. Granted, they have some messed up theology, but they are Christian.

- Mormons are not Christians "No probably to the Bible"
| Posted On: 08/23/08 10:40:07 PM | | Age 42, OK | There are no probablies with the word of God. In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word WAS God. You cannot add to or take away from the truth as it says in Revelation Chapter 22, verses 18 and 19. All these deceivers of the true word of God that label themselves Christians make the same mistake. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the light, no man can come to the Father,(God), but through me."
All these deceivers of the word of God including Mormonism, and now with the Emergent or Emerging movement is just more lost souls trying to find something to follow that is comfortable and conveniant for their liking regardless of what the one true word of God says. Salvation is so simple that even a child can understand it. You dont work for it, the debt was already paid and Praise God that he gave his son Jesus to pay that debt.
All you need is the Bible, not the Book of Mormon, or the Koran, or any other book that is NOT the one true word. The bible says that the path is narrow to Heaven and the road to distruction is broad. If you choose to follow false teachings, YES including Mormonism, that road will be a broad one. - Re: Re: Top 10 Amazing Facts of Mormonism
| Posted On: 03/13/07 06:57:14 PM | | Age 28, MD | No, they are not Christian.
The Bible says this:
"If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, "Let us follow other gods" (gods you have not known) "and let us worship them," you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he preached rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery; he has tried to turn you from the way the LORD your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you."-Deuteronomy 13:1-5
Granted, this is out of the old testament. However, God has not changed His mind. Joseph Smith was a false prophet who's predictions did not even come true! He has lied about the word of God, and has led millions astray by promoting a false god, Jesus, history, creation...ETC. So no, they are not Christian. Click here to reply to this post

Of course not. Only the blood of the holy one true Son of God will wash away sin ....it was who Jesus was, not what Jesus was called that makes Him the way, the truth and the life. Believing in a Jesus who wasn't really the Jesus of the Scripture will only leave you deceived not saved and hence not "Christian". He was Jesus THE CHRIST. When you are faced with death in hell do you want anyone named Jesus to be your Savior or do you want the real Jesus who is God in the flesh? Only the real Jesus will do ...not a placebo! Joseph Smith was a glorified snake oil salesman. He had to create another "Jesus" because he wouldn't accept the one who truly was the Son of God. Men love darkness rather than light BECAUSE their deeds are evil. Joseph Smith was one of these men. He created his own "god" so that his evil could be called "good."

This is NOT what the Bible teaches. It is what Joseph Smith--a false prophet--taught.
If you have the wrong Jesus, you are lost for eternity.
In the name of the true Jesus I pray that your eyes will be opened. If you cannot accept the black and white evidence of Mormon scripture--their own words--you have been deceived.

I want to thank Jill Martin Rische for this article. I want to add another fact. The polygamy agenda is following the sodomite agenda, thans to some Mormon extremists. Does anyone else remember what happened after Colorado voters passed an initiative ban on sodomite rights laws in 1992? (Besides the courts yet again overstepping their bounds by striking down the initiative!) Efforts were made in several other states to pass similar initiatives, but they were voted down. Guess who joined the homosexuals and other liberals to stop the initiatives and to support the sodomite agenda. Mormons! Then when Mitt Romney ran for the US Senate in 1994, he supported homosexual rights. At the time, I could not figure out why Mormons were supporting the militant sodomites. Weren't Mormons supposed to be just like us conservative Christians? Now it is crystal-clear. Mormons supported the homosexual agenda to help pave the way for legalizing polygamy! Even when Utah passed a defense-of-marriage amendment, they passed it by a smaller percentage than many other states. I wonder how many pro-polygamy Mormons voted against that amendment!

According to facts I've uncovered in recent studies on the subject, this article is right on the money, yet doesn't even scratch the surface.
Not mentioned is the fact that any writing of any president of the Mormons is considered to be Holy Scripture and binding on all Mormons. That polygamy was rampant in Utah in the last months of the 20th century...haven't checked in the 21st century, their doctrine of partial atonement, which says that Jesus atoned partly for man's sins, and you must shed your own blood to atone for certain sins that He didn't cover. And the list goes on and on.

I have to correct you on that one, friend. Polygamy is rampant TODAY, and NOT just with the "extremist" groups that hide out in the rural areas. It was openly discussed one morning on a Salt Lake talk radio program, with the host, a devout Mormon, asking the question, "Why do we all pretend it's not going on? We all know many prominent members of our community who are practicing polygamists." It took a while for us, after moving to Salt Lake, to understand why so many houses had "mother in law" apartments, why so many duplexes, why so many houses with adjoining back yards with no fences between them, but fenced from other neighbors. It's a very OPEN 'secret' in Salt Lake. Click here to reply to this post

Yes! Jill is correct in her analysis of Mormanism. I am an ex-Morman that knows that these things are taught in the Morman church. The thing that makes this religion so appealing to people is the Morman take on family and that they actually live what they believe (unlike many Christians). That's why it is so important to know the Bible, God's Holy Word, and its doctrine.

As I understand it, most so called Christian religions believe that all you have to do to be saved is "Believe" yet all I hear is criticizm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for believing a different Christ.? But don't they believe too? Isn't that the Christ who was crucified on the Cross for our sins? The one who was resurrected after laying in the tomb three days? The one who chose apostles, who was baptized by John the Baptist?
Rather than be so worried about what someone says about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, perhaps you should go to the source, and read the Boom of Mormon, especially where in Moroni 10:3-5 it talks about if you read these things, ask God if they are true, and by the power of the Holy Ghost, it will be manifest unto you, and by the power of the Holy Ghost you may know the truth of all things...
Seems you should take the challenge rather than just talk about what someone else says, from some other book, go to the source.

| Posted On: 03/01/07 12:17:21 PM | | Age 38, NE | I also was a Mormon. I took this challenge. I prayed and asked God to give the wisdom (and a burning in my heart) and reveal to me whether or not I was just a rebellious young person and Mormonism was the truth. At first, there was nothing. I felt like God hadnt heard me. Bishops told me I was lacking faith or trying to do algebra before I really knew math. I continued to pray...and God brought me to the thrown of Grace. As a Mormon I WAS NOT a Christian. Jesus was a nice story, I was taught about as a child. A nice guy, that did all that stuff...but I was NEVER taught he was my SAVIOR and ALL I need for eternal life. Not works or temple recommends. So I ask you to take the same challenge and ask God to reveal to you HIS truth and also ask for understanding of John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life and Galatians 1:8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
