AMC Theaters Pull Dakota Fanning Rape Movie After Protest from MOVIEGUIDEŽ and Concerned Women for America
The AMC Theaters chain has pulled HOUNDDOG, the new movie featuring a rape scene and other sexually-charged content involving child actress Dakota Fanning, from its 5,117 screens after protests led by Dr. Ted Baehr of the MOVIEGUIDEŽ family guide to movies and entertainment and Concerned Women for America (CWA).
Even secular critics complained about the movie, which includes shots of snakes crawling in Dakota Fanning's bed and Dakota Fanning gyrating in her panties.
Roger Ebert, for example, called the movie "grotesque and lurid." And, Vic Holtreman at ScreenRant wrote, "I've never seen a 12-year-old wearing just underwear in a movie in so many scenes."
"This movie promotes pedophilia and child sexuality," Baehr said. "The inclusion of children in sexually explicit movies is despicable and certainly inappropriate."
Baehr noted that it has long been a goal of leaders in the radical secular left, including filmmakers like the writer and director behind HOUNDDOG, to destroy traditional biblical notions of sexual morality.
"Theories of child sexuality by deranged clinical psychologists like Alfred Kinsey and radical feminists like the HOUNDDOG director are part of that movement," Baehr added.
"There are those who are willing to accept the blurring of lines between adults and children in sexual acts," agreed Donna Miller, the chief of CWA's Nor More Child Porn campaign.
Almost to prove their point, officials at the feminist group National Organization for Women are urging their supporters to rush out to theaters to support the movie. Evidently, they have very few supporters, because the movie did very badly at the box office when it opened: a pathetic $1,100 per screen.
Taxpayers in North Carolina contributed $387,000 toward making the movie. State officials rejected complaints about this expenditure and about the movie's pornographic scenes involving the underage Fanning.
