Tax The Windfall Profits Now!!!
I am sure that the title of this article made you either cheer or get upset. If you are a liberal , you are cheering since you believe that ;you somehow have an entitlement to what belongs to others. If you are a conservative, you no doubt feel differently due to your understanding of the failure of liberal/Marxist thinking. I am sure that both liberals and conservatives who read the title of this article think that I am in favor of taxing the windfall profits of the oil companies. I am not!
Barack Obama is traveling the country proclaiming that as president he will "tax the windfall profits of big oil." He then says that he will give a $1000.00 check to every "working family." I need to ask a few questions.
Question one – What is a windfall profit?
Question two – What is a working family? 0A
Question tree – What gives the government the right to steal from one group of people and give it to another?
The first question concerning windfall profits is an interesting one to try to answer. The arbitrary term "windfall profits" is a great term for politicians since it sounds like something sinister and yet there is no such thing. You see in business you have good times, moderate times, great times, and very bad times. That is the nature of the cycles of any given business. This is especially true when dealing with commodities. Those of you liberals who care to look at history will realize that the oil business busted in the late 1980's into the 1990's. Those years were not great for oil companies. You should also note that when this stupid notion of taxing "windfall profits" was tried in the 1970's it was a disaster! Recent years have proven to be excellent for oil companies due to this cycle of supply and=2 0demand. The market will correct itself as people simply drive less, and do less business with oil. As the market becomes unable to bare the price it will fall. Some say that it is not supply and demand but rather speculators that are causing the problem. I must remind those people that speculators base their speculation on their perception of supply and demand. If we have more supply coming (laws opening the important domestic areas to drilling), the speculators will speculate that prices will fall and they will. The idea that stealing money from companies will somehow drive prices down only further describes that Obama has no clue about economics. This idea of the government deciding some arbitrary "windfall" limit is absurd on its face and is nothing more that a feel good, lets get those "bad oil guys" talking point.
I have a shocking revelation for you. The reason businesses are in business is to make money. Is that not why you work at your job? Certainly along with that, there are moral principles that we all should try to live by to be good citizens, but lack of profit equals out of business. It must be understood that the notion of windfall pr ofits" is a made up term. You either have loss, break even, good profits, or great profits, and that's it. Every company knows that it is the good times that carry you through the bad times. I hate the gas prices as much as you do but we should not be mad at a company because they sell a product we all want to buy.
The next political speak I must address is the term "working families." This term has always bothered me. The idea is that those who work for others are working families, and those who work for themselves by starting businesses are somehow not working. The idea continues in that is suggests that those who sacrifice, work hard to get an education, and end up making lots of money have not worked. This is simply a continued attempt to use class warfare in hopes of gaining the support of all those who believe that they are entitled to another persons wealth. After all, those wealthy people are not "working families." How communist can you get? Obama is the same old liberal/Marxist politician who sees himself above it all as he walks about with his elitist world-view. He wants ever larger and more powerful government because he is a Marxist.
How about this idea that the government has the right to steal from one group and give it to another? This is often referred to as the "Robin hood Mentality." This however is a misnomer since in the Robin hood story he is taking from the government and giving it back to the people. Our founding fathers were not communists but Obama is. There is no place in the Constitution that gives government the right to redistribute wealth. Taxes are supposed to be levied to raise money for what the Constitution limits government to. Obama and his followers neither understand the Constitution or care to. If they do, they don't believe in it and so they take what they want from the Constitution and leave what they don't. They are your typical socialist malcontents who feel entitled to what they have not earned themselves. Their world-view has nothing to do with our founding, our Constitution, or our greatest traditions.
I have a question for Obama. Senator, you made a 3. 9 million dollar "windfall profit" from your book sales. That was a huge increase in your income. According to your 2007 tax return, you made over 4.2 million in 2007. According to your idea of "windfall profits," you clearly qualify as one of those non working families who are profiting of the backs of the poor. Tax his windfall profits now!!! I think you should be forced to give me a large portion of your money that I did not earn. Senator, I need a new car, I have five children, the gas prices are hurting me, I need some of your "windfall profit!" Who do you think you are Barack Obama? Do you think you deserve to keep what you were paid for your book sales?
Here is the truth; I have no right to his money. He wrote his books, he sold his books, and he deserves to do with his money what he wants. That is true with every company and individual. Only a communist would believe otherwise. Freedom includes keeping what you earn, owning personal property, and a government that is "of the people, for the people, by the people." Liberty never comes from government confiscation, government indoctrination, or government intimidation. Keep your money Obama or give it away if you choose. We will do the same, but we will never stop fighting against the extortion of big government politicians like you. You are the typical liberal elitist. A vote for Obama by anyone who values freedom, personal property rights, and the Constitution is simply insane.
