The Government Empowers Itself With Our Money
Christian Pastor, Author, and Columnist
Well here we go again. It just never ends and no matter what the big government crowd has presented to them concerning government waste, they will always continue to push for more centralized power. There is no shortage of examples of how inefficient government is. Each year we hear of more wasteful spending. The general population seems to have been desensitized to all this waste and generally there is little to no outrage left.
Money is spent on so called "earmarks". "Earmarks" are pet projects that a politician attaches to another bill in order to bring money to their district while avoiding debate on the merits of the project. Example; Hillary Clinton wants one million dollars to be earmarked for her district to build a "Woodstock Museum" (and I thought Bill Clinton did not inhale). I use this example, however, I could list both Democrats and Republicans who waste our money on stupid projects like the one mentioned above . The truth is that our (or what used to be our) government lost its way long ago with the increase of a socialist mind set. Many people today believe it is the government's job to give them everything. I am not speaking about the truly disabled or emergency situations. Politicians get their pet spending projects into bills with a wink and a nod. It's the old "You vote for mine and say nothing, and I will vote for yours and say nothing."
I often quote the constitution although I wonder if it matters to anyone any longer. Let me give it another try. The Tenth Amendment says the following;
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
This obvious amendment tells of the original intent of our founders. "The power not delegated to the United States" tells us that there are certain specific powers given to the "United States." This specifically speaks of the federal government. "Nor prohibited by it to the States" tells us that there is a separation of powers between the federal and each State. "Are reserved to the states respectively or to the people" expresses to us that each state has both rights and responsibilities that are reserved for them only and not the federal government. This amendment says that whatever the Constitution states about the federal government's responsibilities is the limit of its power.
To the treasonous leftist Republicans and Democrats it means nothing. They love to use the Constitution where it fits their agenda. They quote the Constitution's first and fourth amendment often but ignore the tenth, second, and all others that do not fit their agenda to expand socialism.
Now to the 42 million dollar question: By now we all know about the so called "stimulus package" that big government President Bush, and big government Congress passed. This article is not to debate the merits of the "stimulus package" (that is for another article). This article is simply giving another example of the failure of government. The I.R.S. recently spent 42 million dollars to send out a notice to all who are receiving the stimulus rebate. The purpose of the notice is to tell the ones that are receiving the rebate that they are going to be receiving the rebate. Never mind that those who receive the rebate would obviously know they received the rebate (a little repetitive here?) The government had the bright and shinning idea that they should waste 42 million dollars on the obvious. This example should shout in the face of every American however most Americans simply do not care since the socialists have succeeded in separating the government from the people. Think about this for a moment and transfer your mind to what Obama and Clinton want to do with socialized medicine. Do you really believe that government will make healthcare better in quality and more efficient? Do you really believe that?
Here is a question for you. If you had a car that was in need of fixing would you bring that car to the auto repair place that has lied to you, stole your money, charged you ten times the amount it should have, did a terrible job fixing your car, and raided your glove compartment looking through your personal things? If the people who run that auto repair shop criminally found a way to put every other auto repair shop out of business so you would have no choice would they get better at auto repair? If they then came to you and said that they want your home appliance business as well would you willingly trust them to fix your appliances? If these same people systematically continued to do this in every area so you would have no choices left would you consider them your friend or your enemy?
The government fits the example above all too well only Obama and Clinton are not trying to take over the care of your car, they are trying to take over the care of your body. The socialist Democrats along with their willing R.I.N.O. (Republicans in name only) have been systematically taking more and more power to themselves. The government is not even smart enough to know that when people receive their refund from the "stimulus package" they will realize they received it. The government is no longer constitutional at all. It has grown to usurp the right of the States and sticks its nose in everything. With all that, there are still people who want the government to run healthcare? Everything they touch that is not specifically their constitutional authority turns to dung in their greedy hands. If you want more of the same garbage, vote for liberal Republicans and Democrats. Here is the 42 million dollar question: Are Americans going to trust those who have continually shown themselves to be enemies of the constitution? I fear the answer to the question is a mind blowing yes. God help us sane people in winning our beloved nation back.
