The True Racists in the Bennett "black baby" Debate

The Liberal media and political spin-machine are up in arms over former education secretary Bill Bennett's comments this week.  On Bennett's radio program, "Morning in America", Mr. Bennett, in reply to a caller, took issue with a recent hypothesis in the book Freakonomics, that one of the reasons for a declining crime rate in America was due to the presence of legalized abortion in this country since 1973.  Bennett responded to this idea by saying, "But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could, if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down."  Bennett concluded his thought by saying that this was "an impossible, ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down.  So, these far-out, these far-reaching, extensive extrapolations are, I think, tricky."

In his statement, Mr. Bennett points out the ridiculous notion that crime might be decreased through the presence of abortion in a society.  Unfortunately, as an example, he chose to use a reference to the minority black community to communicate this point.  Mr. Bennett's choice of example was poor.  However, Mr. Bennett's argument against using abortion as a justification for lowering the crime rate was right on.

I find it extremely curious that Mr. Bennett is being raked over the coals by the Liberals for referring to the abortions of black babies as a hypothetical example to refute a ridiculous hypothesis (that abortion helps the crime rate).  And yet, while the Liberals condemn Mr. Bennett for hypothetically referencing the abortion of black babies, these very same Liberals stand by and give full approval to the very people who actually are aborting black babies in this country every single day! 

According to the Culture of Life Foundation and Institute, "African-American women constitute 13.5% of the U.S. female population but they undergo 34% of all of the abortions in this country.  Their abortion rate (31 per 1,000 women) is approximately 2.6 times the rate for white women (12 per 1,000)… African-American pro-life activists estimate that about 1,400 black babies have died in abortions, on average, each day since abortion was mandated a constitutional right.  That makes 546,000 killed per year, or about 15 million people since Roe v. Wade."[i]

So, while Mr. Bennett's choice to use black babies as a hypothetical example in his argument was poor, what is even poorer is the fact that the Liberals in our country have supported, fought for, and championed the "woman's right" to kill over 15 million black babies in the last 30 years of our country's history.  In the past 2 days Mr. Bennett has been called a racist by numerous Liberal politicians and countless Leftist columnists and websites.  However, the true racists are the Liberals in our country who are advancing the disproportionate murders of these millions of black babies.  If Nazi Germany were doing this we'd call it a "holocaust"; when this type of slaughter happens in Bosnia or Darfur we call it "ethnic cleansing" or "genocide"; however, if you're a Liberal in America this is called a "woman's right".  Talk about hypocrisy!
