The Blind Leading the Blind

By Dr. Ted Baehr

Remember the Alar scare?

Actress Meryl Streep told Congress that apples with Alar were going to poison our nation. Soon, the truth was revealed that she was totally wrong – Alar was NOT a pesticide, and Meryl had the good sense to apologize.

Now, Rosie O'Donnell has accused Christians of being worse than Islamic terrorists. Of course, more than any other group besides Jews, Christians have been persecuted for centuries about their faith. They are still being murdered throughout the Muslim world and persecuted in the so-called civilized world. Rosie's interviewer was shocked at how many facts she got wrong.

This weekend, a movie called JESUS CAMP opens up, spreading the fear that Christian leaders Ted Haggard, James Dobson, D. James Kennedy are trying to take over the country and focusing on a group of Charismatic young kids as if they were members of an Islamo-fascist terrorist camp.

So one might ask, what is going on here?

First of all, we've clearly dumbed down the culture when these prominent people don't know much about history, don't know much about geography, don't know much about anything, except what they feel. Second, we've supported this stupidity by lifting them up on talk shows, letting them testify before Congress, and entering into dialogue with people who are epistemologically unconscious, or useful idiots, as Lenin used to say. Third, we've allowed the education system to brainwash this generation so badly that they have no frame of reference. These useful idiots did not even bother to Google their misperceptions to find out the facts.

Of course, the education system has been telling them that facts are irrelevant, why bother, and truth doesn't exist. This wouldn't be so sad if millions of people didn't listen to the people running the education system and take them seriously, especially people in the major political parties. In fact, the educational leaders have spread so many lies and so much fear about Christianity and the United States of America in our schools and in the mass media that people like Rosie O'Donnell and filmmakers have virtually a free rein to spread their clueless message of fear and hate.

Happily, however, there are still some Americans with common sense. They read MOVIEGUIDE® and WorldNetDaily and live in the middle of the country – unlike the pseudo-intellectuals in our urban centers, and on our college campuses, who have been dumbed down so far that they aren't even useful as idiots.

What can you and your family do about this sad state of affairs?

First, you can pray for Rosie O'Donnell and her celebrity friends, and for clueless filmmakers, so that they may be enlightened by Jesus Christ, who is the Light of all people. In Him is eternal life, and to all those who believe in Him and His divine authority, he gives the right to become children of God.

Then, you can use the materials provided to you by groups like MOVIEGUIDE® and WorldNetDaily to educate yourself, your family and the people around you.

Finally, you can support groups like MOVIEGUIDE® and its parent organization, Christian Film & Television Commission™, as they try to help you redeem the values of our culture so that you can protect future generations, your children and grandchildren, and transform that culture with the Good, the True and the Beautiful.

It is said that, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. The enlightened vision that God has given us enables us to shine a Light through the darkness to "e-duco" or educate by leading the one-eyed pundit and the people out of darkness into the Light of the Truth. Doing so, we not only can become children of God and not just kings, but also more than conquerors. For, if God is for us, then who on earth can stand against us?
